"Scary lady in red?" I bit my pain and grimace, not allowing my emotions to control me. I felt the cold steel press against my back, as she cocked it loud with a bullet into the chamber, a warning.

Rantaro suddenly found himself behind Kokichi, who seemed upset. "Your the assassin? Did somebody pay for you to kill him?"

"I don't have to reveal a thing." Her monotone voice ran out, not a single tune or chipper sound in her vocal cords. Her pigtails seemed evident by her red clothing, but I tried not to move as to provoke her.

I started to think about my life, everything that happened before. And I found myself, for some reason, wishing I stayed alive.

That deep down, some hope stayed for me to survive through.

"I know you don't. But you only get paid in hits, unless you found that we knew info, didn't you? Suprising, since people would be on your ass since that kid." Rantaro held his aggression, bit couldn't help but hide the spitting malice trailing through him.

The gun pressed deeper, and I gulped. "Maki Harukawa."

She froze, that's when I launched. I grabbed grabbed gun, kicking it with enough strength before she shot. Maki kicked my legs under me, but I tossed my handcuffs to Kokichi, who grabbed them. Rantaro held the gun, aimed at her skull.

One bullet away from death. One second from ever seeing life as we all knew it. And Maki didn't care, swinging her legs before Kokichi grabbed her arm, able to attach one arm. Then, he did something dumb.

He couldn't reach her other side, being flung. So he attached it to himself, twirling around and locking the hand around Maki's neck.

Reaching into her pocket, there was a knife as well. Kokichi soon held a deep, dark expression as he laughed from the chest. "Try me."

A respect swelled inside me, as Rantaro bent down to her level.

"The cops are already coming, you know. I knew you were watching over with those red eyes of yours. It's over."

The assassin didn't meet any of our faces, sighing. "How did you know my name?"

I smirked, holding her chin up. "As well as I am a detective, I do make private investigations. I had a name, no leads. Just one name mention. I've forgotten this case years ago, but nows a good time as ever."

Kokichi gushed, trying to keep his choke hold still. Maki didn't restrain, almost giving up. Rantaro didn't falter his movements until a helicopter came up. He hopped on, grabbing my hand and helping me. Kokichi stood, before being forced down.

Maki moved so fast, nobody reacted. She spun under his arm, flipping him over before snatching the knife, taking one quick jab, the handcuffs unlocked. She felt her wrists, reaching around under her skirt for a grapplehook.

I shouted, trying to jump off. She held the knife up in the air, those peircing blood eyes. "It's a cold case. And it'll stay this way, detective. I do this for money and a living, and I doubt you can help it."

I helped Kokichi up the flying helicopter, hopping in the back with a sweaty Rantaro speaking to the driver. In the passengers seat, Kaede.

I almost cried. I hugged her and turned to hear somebody shift awaym

Kokichi stood in the corner, staring out the window. He watched, and watched. Not a single reaction. I was in the middle, separating him from Rantaro.

I cleared my throat, turning to Kokichi. "There's a lost dog case, and I'd be happy to invite you." I whispered in his ear, the loud sounds of the helicopters wings blasting through the door.

Kokichi flushed, turning to me. "Whatever you say, boss."

My heart did a skip. "Chances are it'll turn into a cheating spouse look over, and I know you love the drama."

"You know I do!" Kokichi leaned on my shoulder, smiling. Kaede and Rantaro smiled at us, as the helicopter carried us away.
