I thanked the kid for his sharp mind, and hoped Monaca and them well. The trio of us detectives scurried off to the crime scene, which had yellow tape fastened over it. People were avoiding the area, and the shops nearby closed for the time being. Certainly for questioning from police, who were scattered about.

Kaede poked up behind me, hugging me. "Shu! Hey, how's the case going?"

A loud exasperated cough left Kokichi, rolling his eyes. "CONFIDENTIAL." He fake yawned, feining annoyance..

Rantaro grabbed his hand, moving it down. "It's suspicious to be asking that, no offense ma'am. Even if you are involved, the case is too sensitive to reveal." He then stomped off, holding his hand.
Kokichi looked down at it, and moved closer as they broke through the police tape.

I felt my patience slowly crumble, glaring at their backs. Kaede caught this, and held a finger to my chest. "Wow, calm down. I'm sure Kokichi isnt
his partner yet."

I tried to agree, but eventually I followed and caught up to them. The body was sketched on, leftover blood samples and no weapon. Rantaro glanced up at the buildings ahead, turning to me. "So over and down that building, is a secret alleyway? Or at least, that's what Nagisa said?"

Kokichi grabbed my arm, forcing me over. I tried to move away, but found myself weak to his touch. "Yeah, but I'm sure we can squeeze through some buildings then grapple through. I'm small enough, maybe I could find another way in?" Kokichi detested, shrugging.

Rantaro whipped his phone out, staying cool. "I suppose. Call me once you have a lead, and try not to seem like cops. Ruffle your hair up, take your trenchcoats off, pretend like you know where to go."

I nodded, taking my hat and overcoat off. I let my ahoge bounce out, tucking my hair and missaranging it. I untucked my button up, and tried to seem tough. Kokichi laughed, before gasping and grabbing my arm.

"Holy shit, your buff! I've never seen you look... not Profesional! Damn that's hot!" Before catching himself and stopping. "Boss. You look nice,I mean."

I held back my reaction, seeing Rantaro mock us now. "I see why you two work well now."

Kokichi placed his hat, taking his jacket off and belt attaching it together. He wrapped the belt around his undercoat, which was just a normal white shirt.

He had a hair tie too, placing a hip ponytail before waving goodbye. I wish I had the chance to compliment MY asisstant too, but he left.

Now me and Rantaro stood, silence filling the dead end crime scene, as he started to change himself and place glasses on. He pulled his hair back, showing his forehead and taking his trench coat off.

He had a normal striped shirt under, like he was some hip high school kid who did weed. I held back my snarky comments, knowing I didn't fully mean it.

"So, are you and Kaede a thing? I saw how she ran up and hugged you. Just curious." He asked, turning to me. I got a good look of him, a real good look. He seemed like he didn't care, but now seemed interested.

Was he a playboy of some sorts? Famous, pretty, and was smart? It would seem like a waste of talents.

"No, we're not. I'm not interested in her like that, I don't know why people ask that..." I vented, not realizing I was getting into the feels with a potential rival agency and a detective who might steal my assistant away.

"Then it's Kokichi, then? I understand. Sorry for asking, he just seems very excited to work with you. I wish I had somebody like him."

I was about to respond, before the phone rang. Rantaro instantly answered, huge smile. "Hey, Kichi. Where? Oh. Well, okay. We'll have to break a little bit of law to find out."

They even had nicknames?

I was dragged into a drugstore, a man with a cigar and grease stains on his shirt. His fake silver necklace with a copper discoloration, oxidation claiming its home. He seemed tired, not fully noticing us until Rantaro raised his hand, normally. Before saying something that made me jump.

"This pipsqueak gave me some money, whatchu got? If it ain't weed, or anything to get us high then I swear..." His voice was raspy, teasing as he forcefully gripped my hair, ruffling my hair and shoving me with a certain agreesiveness.

I tried to voice my words out, but it only came out as squeaks. Which made the detective laugh louder, shooting remarks and rude jokes. Crude ones especially. I cowered in fear, trying to pretend to be a nerd.

The store owner didn't give a shit, rolling his eyes. "I don't care, just go in the back. I sell nothing, nor do I care if you have wires."

Rantaro dropped the act, acting suave and passing in. In the door way was Kokichi, who ran to hug him. "There was this buff dude who wanted to sell me sanrio themed panties!"

"What?" I said, turning white. Kokichi turned away, walking on, "I'm kidding, boss."

Rantaro followed along, being lead further and furthermore. There was a old street vendor, selling meat. I questioned her about any suspicious behavior. That's when she showed me a crooked, witty smile, "Young man, everything is suspicious in here."

Rantaro wooed her, bending down to help her arrange some meats into a freezer, showing his strength and sweet smile. She coughed, leaning down to grab his hand with her shaky, veiny one.

"This didn't come from me, young men. But down the street I'm sure you'll find a house that'll be your way. Let's just say, they know a guy that knows a guy."

She kissed Rantaro's palm, bidding him goodbye. He cringed a bit, but continued on. The rest of the way, Kokichi teased him.

My mind was lost in time, being led to one person, to another. That's when we met a woman, who avoided us. She seemed uninterested to interact, yet wore two pigtails and red. When Kokichi spotted her, he nearly collapsed in excitement.

We both rushed to follow close behind, and I realized I took the lead of the trio. Now I was in familiar area, chasing around somebody for evidence. We eventually found that she had a whole base, set in the nighttime. All three of us stood on a building, eating some vendor food that hopefully wasn't poisoned. Wind blew around us as the chatter of the live alleyway filled the area around us. Me and Kokichi were discussing old cases, Rantaro listening.

That's when Kaede called. Rantaro remembered he had to excuse himself, calling his chief to give updates. I answered with relief, not wanting to be stuck in this triangle of people.

Kokichi glanced at me, took a very hard look.

I was like a puppy, kicking awake. "Hey, Kaede! Yeah, yeah, I'm okay! Hahah, sorry.. no no, I'm sorry! I shouldn't of walked off like that, no, I hope your okay too! Hah-"

My hand was grabbed, forcing the phone out of my hands. Kokichi tore my phone out, hanging up. I sputtered my words, trying to fight back.

He then grabbed me, kissing me. I had whiplash, shoving him off.

"K-kokichi?! Why did you-"

"I'm YOUR assistant, not her! Why do you care so much about her!"

"Well I thought you walked off to Rantaro, now that you're in a mood with me!"

"Because you clearly care more about some blonde then your partner!"

"I don't, it's just that the more you leave, the more I want to be with her!"

A voice awkwardly coughed, clearing his throat before walking in between of us. "Now isnt the time. We have a location, now we just need to intercept and let authorities handle the case."

Kokichi grabbed his arm, cuddling into it. He glared right at me, turning away. "Okay, boss."

Rantaro glanced down at him, his face changing color a bit. I felt my heart drop, standing taller. I was ready to scream, before we were interrupted again. This time, by a loaded gun aimed at my back. I turned around, eyes wide.
