Chapter Eight - A&C

Lucy had the best sleep that she has ever had in her entire life. That is because she slept next to James. Somehow, he made her feel as if she has nothing to worry about anymore. She is still asleep in James master suite whilst he is downstairs helping Rick and the staff with breakfast. It has been a couple of weeks where they have been in the same home. James knows how important it is to keep her safe after what went down with Joker. Knowing that he would most definitely kill her is something that she was not ready to process so quickly. Lucy has been struggling to be herself after everything that happened. She refused to eat for a week and only had a grape the next day. Breakfast is set up and Lucy made her way to the dining room. She grabs a bowl of fruit and drinks some iced tea. James walks in and smiles when he sees her. (Cro): Good morning (Ace): Morning He kisses her on the cheek and prepares her a plate. (Cro): Good to see that you are eating (Ace): Yes. The food is so good. I love it (Cro): I asked the staff to make something different today. I am happy that you love it (Ace): It is perfect. Thank you so much Ace has not spoken about the Joker situation for weeks as well. James knew how badly it affects her and just wanted to make everything as comfortable as possible while she stayed there. After breakfast, Lucy and James sit at the fireplace, under blankets on the couch. The rain is pouring outside along with an icy breeze. They decide to put a movie onto help them relax. (Cro): How are you feeling? Im so happy that you are able to eat today (Ace): I guess I am feeling alright but still out of place. The craziest thing is that I used to get nightmares every night and they fucked with my head (Cro): Shit. I am so sorry to hear that (Ace): No dont be. What I am trying to say is that ever since we have been sleeping next to each other, they seemed to have disappeared (Cro): Oh my fuck! That is fantastic! Youre saying that they are gone? (Ace): I think so. But other than that, I have been trying to get in contact with Selina for a few days and she has not gotten back to me yet (Cro): Are you worried? Must we go look for her? (Ace): Im sure that she is okay. Just having some anxiety over nothing as usual Cro holds Ace tighter and gives her a kiss as reassurance. It was one thing that made Lucy more afraid than anything. Wondering whether Selina was safe or not. There was also the fact that she faced first-hand that everyone is right about the Joker. It was a silent topic for a long while until Lucy decided to go grab a few bottles. She and James planned to play a few drinking games to take the edge off. (Ace): We needed a night to let off some steam anyway. Time to relax is important for everybody for everyone in this city, you know? (Cro): Fuck. You get me (Ace): Oh, do I? Those two are such little troublemakers, arent they? Hours go by as they play truth or dare with more bottles coming. It gets interesting when Lucy decides that she can no longer keep quiet about the incident. She is not interested in staying in denial, well not anymore. (Ace): James, after what happened with the Joker I have not been able to forget about it (Cro): I cannot begin to imagine all the shit that asshole has done to you after what happened. He fucked with your head and your heart. FUCK! I want to shoot him in the- (Ace): Hey. Hey! Look at me, James. Hey. What he did is way more than fucked up but we need to think before any ideas of retaliation (Cro): Watching you refuse to get out of bed and feel horrible for days was the toughest thing to do. Seeing how it all affected you is the reason why I am beyond ready to kill that motherfucker Lucy puts James face between her hands as she tries to calm him down. The liquor does fascinating things at this time of the evening. (Ace): I understand how you feel. I feel that way too. However, we will not be able to kill insanity with insanity. We need a better approach (Cro): Basically to prevent fighting fire with fire (Ace): Whats funny is I knew how crazy he is and yet I still felt surprised after he was prepared to kill me when he had the chance. Guess I just needed physical proof to seal the deal (Cro): I have also seen that crazy side before. One night, it was a Poker game gone wrong. We fought side-by-side and never met again (Ace): So you saw what he is like is that why you have been odd in between? Is it because I never mentioned anything about the message to meet him coming through to me that other day? (Cro): I admit that it bothers me that you never said much about it. I would have been able to be there for you. Maybe helped or been at least somewhat of any help to you (Ace): Is that really how you feel? You feel as if you have not been helpful at all? (Cro): I do (Ace): James, you kept me safe here with you when you did not have to. You were generous enough to give me food, new clothing and a safe place to recharge. You have helped me so much. Way more than you realise (Cro): No choice was needed at all. You mean so fucking much to me and keeping you safe is not something that ever needs to take time to think through (Ace): So you are and have been way more than helpful. Do not ever doubt how amazing you are. I should have at least let you know about going to meet Joker and I am sorry for not including you. You deserved to know where I was because we both know how dangerous they are. Things could have gone a lot worse than what they did. You truly mean a lot to me as well These two are too damn adorable. It is a pity that they have to deal with mad men like the Joker or even have a past with Deadshot. If Lucy had to know about what Floyd and Duela did to James then she would most definitely lose her mind. Duela has been a good friend to her but what she did to Cro is unforgivable. Floyd also played a huge part in that. Why is it that sometimes the people we love can be so cruel without remorse yet they feel horrible once they get caught. Karma is making its way to those who think that they can play God and get away with it. (Ace): Joker and Harley will soon realise that they are not ever going to be a part of my life after what they did. Those who try to hurt us will only feel the wrath that they have caused in us. We might be sweet in our emotions but do not forget that we are villains first (Cro): We take what is ours and kill those who tried to sweep us under the rug (Ace): Precisely. But we need a good plan first. Now we need some sleep too (Cro): I agree
