Chapter Sixteen - C

I want to celebrate our engagement and tell our closest people about the great news. Fuck yeah! But maybe we can start with something small. Lucy had just finished her recovery a few days ago so she is currently at Dice. I was sorting some details out with Harvey as the days went by too. We want to start another big project but there has been several small ones these past few weeks. They are not really that exciting. As I am following my train of thought, Harvey calls me. (Cro): Speak of the devil. Talk to me, Harv (Two-Face): You would wish that the devil looked this good. I have taken the time to read all of the emails (Cro): What do you think? (Two-Face): I think that you are a lucky son of a bitch and I hope she says yes (Cro): It will be one of the most personal projects that we have done in almost a decade (Cro): Less than that but whos counting? So, you are looking at land plots to design your new home to move into as a newly married couple? Sounds like quite the grand fucking wedding gift (Cro): She deserves only the best. I found the biggest plot possible and if she agrees, we start the paperwork on designs as soon as we want (Two-Face): I am almost impressed. What else have you been thinking about? (Cro): Well, I thought we would prepare for a three-level home with an additional basement level and- Lucy arrives at home after working out some details at Dice. I really dont want to ruin the surprise. (Cro): Harvey, I have to go I hang up and hug her hello as if we havent seen each other for months. I have missed this woman. (Ace): Harvey keeping you busy as usual? (Cro): Something like that. Tell you what. You go grab a shower and wear something fancy. We need to blow off some steam after this past couple of weeks (Ace): Only if you dress up too (Cro): Of course She goes upstairs, and I head to the kitchen. Hopefully this part of the surprise was not given away too early as well. It seems like things are almost finished this side which is a good sign. (Rick): As the kids say, relax sir. Everything will be brought outside on the patio for your dinner before you know it. The setup is already completed and decorated. The food just needs five more minutes, and we will be ready when you are, Mr Maxwell (Cro): Thank you, Rick. I hope she likes it. I will be downstairs again shortly They seem to be calm and prepared. Surprises tend to be very stressful for me actually. Most people tend to love planning all kinds of surprises. I shower and get dressed. Lucy looks so fucking fantastic in her red dress. We definitely needed time to relax and unwind. We walk down the stairs together and head to the patio. There are candles burning, rose petals everywhere, lights on each decoration, and all kinds of food that you could crave. She smiles and I kiss her hand before pulling out her chair. (Cro): I wanted us to pause life for a moment and get to celebrate our engagement (Ace): Quick question (Cro): What is it? (Ace): This might be dumb to ask but here I am, asking it anyway. Did you perhaps ask Harley or Joker for their blessing? That is not a dumb question at all. It is completely reasonable as they are her parents. They might be awful and barely there but a person can always dream that the people we have seen be horrible can hopefully be good people or redeem themselves one way or another in our lives. (Cro): I actually did. We had to take care of something, and I decided impulsively to ask him. He said yes but I could not track down Harley. He has no idea where she is (Ace): So she just went missing again? (Cro): It seems that way, yes. But Joker seemed very vague about it. At least he said yes. I did not expect it at all I honestly still dont know how he said yes. For all the things in the world, he actually gave his blessing for me to marry Lucy. He looked like he could have been excited as well. That is the problem with that clown. You can never tell what is going on in that mind of his and it freaks me out. At least we know where she gets I form because it is not fun to experience. I hate when she gets tough to understand but at least she does not want to fuck up my life and my friends like previous assholes that need not be mentioned. (Ace): How the fuck are you so perfect? I would marry you right here (Cro): I dont think Selina and Ivy would appreciate that (Ace): Youre probably right We enjoy our dinner and our desserts. Food was not the only thing on the menu. But I am a gentleman so there wont be any kissing and telling from my side. We are now laying in front of the fireplace in the master suite under a blanket or two. There was enough heat from the both of us to light the fire ourselves but the cold weather from the outside made the fireplace a necessity. I caress her arm as we are laying comfortably. At least she loved that first surprise, lets see if she loves the second one that I have been planning. (Cro): So I have been thinking (Ace): You have been thinking about what? (Cro): As an early wedding present or even an engagement gift I have another proposal for you (Ace): Oh shit. Should I be worried? (Cro): Definitely not. Want to design a new home for both of us to live in once we get married? Lucy screams and jumps up. We kiss for as long as I can remember. Hopefully this means she wants to and I dont start overthinking it. (Cro): I hope that means yes (Ace): Yes! Yes it means yes! Lets build our future home (Cro): Then I will get the paperwork and we can get started. But for now, lets just enjoy the evening The next thing we knew, it was 4am and we were out of breath. What is this woman doing to me? She is a goddess in more ways than one. (Ace): What? Do I have a hickey or something? (Cro): The better question is, where isnt there a hickey on you? (Ace): Mm that is true. OH fuck. Look at the time! We have to be up in a few hours to discuss the plans for our future mansion! (Cro): I can say for certain that something is up already (Ace): Fuck you, Mister Maxwell (Cro): Wouldnt you like to, future Mrs Maxwell? Time goes by and it is 7am. We finally decided to get some sleep and planned to push the meeting to 12pm. Not that we would have had enough sleep till then but it would have been fun to get a head start with our plans. I cant wait to show her what I have started up already.
