Chapter Eighteen - A&C

Lucy and Selina robbed a huge boat that had all types of expensive ornaments on board. (Ace): Just two more and then we can head out to sell them all (Catwoman): Alright Kitty. Lets go They walk through Gotham City, thick as thieves. It felt as if no time had passed. (Ace): How have you been since we last spoke? (Catwoman): Paranoid as expected but mostly good They talk about everything that has been happening. It feels like life is back to normal again. After selling all of the ornaments, they hug one another and go their separate ways. Lucy needed that to make herself feel normal again. Dice can only help so much with that. She gets back to Jamess place and she is suddenly knocked in the face with reality again. She walks to the winery and bar to fetch herself an entire bottle of tequila. She fetches some chocolate and has a bubble bath to blow off some steam. Then James walks in, sits next to the bath with an apologetic and sad facial expression. (Ace): Have you come here to yell at me again? I was out with Selina by the way. We stole a couple things and sold them to split the profits (Cro): I didnt want to yell. I dont want to yell at you. You know that you dont have to steal for money anymore, right? (Ace): First you think that I am cheating on you behind your back. Now you are telling me what to do with my life since I am wealthy. What is next? He pauses for a moment and sighs heavily. James felt like he was twisted inside out, and he could not take it anymore. He heard that Lucy said she is friends with Duela. He knew right there in that moment that he has to tell her the entire truth about his past. Cro was afraid that she was going to think that it was a dumb story he made up to control who she would be friends with. Yet Ace was wondering why she had to bother hearing what he had to say. She was also quite tipsy so she did not have a care in the world if she did not want to have one. (Cro): You cant be friends with Duela (Ace): Wow! A shocking third part to the day! Let me at least breathe my own air. Or what is next? You cant take a shit without walking ten paces. You cant have a snack without doing the breaststroke in the pool for fifteen minutes? You need a book to write them all down? (Cro): You didnt let me finish (Ace): My apologies, sir. Continue your list. DO proceed (Cro): What I was going to say is that you cant be friends with Duela because the girlfriend that cheated on me with one of my friends in broad daylight the one that literally made me feel like an idiot for wanting to propose to her and spend my life with her the one that made me never want to be in a relationship again. Its Duela and if you heard of her then I am almost certain that you have heard of the former friend of mine that was the other part of this entire cheating scandal. It was Deadshot, mostly known for his alias but his real name is Floyd Lawton At that moment, it was as if all of the tequila dried up inside of Aces body and she was undoubtedly as sober as a judge. It was as if she went and hit her head with a light pole and her brain was bursting at the seams. She could not process what she had just heard. Okay so maybe she was still a bit drunk. It apparently did not dry up as much as she was hoping it would have or thought that it felt like. If only life was that easy. (Ace): He wouldnt have been involved in that (Cro): How would you have known that? How long do you think you know him to be able to say that? (Ace): I believe that the simple term is lovers (Cro): Of course. Why am I not surprised? Well, your former lover was more than capable of doing it since I watched them in the act in person Lucy had no idea how to react. It was too much at once. The people that caused him so much pain were two people that she trusted for such a long time. The world had been flipped in so many ways and none of it made any sense to her anymore. Her pulse was slowed down and the world was moving in slow motion. She was crazy about Floyd Lawton once upon a time and she trusted Duela like a sister of her own. How could she have been so wrong about not one but two people? How could her judgement have been that off? (Ace): I am so sorry. Infidelity is an unforgivable thing and if I had known about who they were before (Cro): I assumed since you mentioned her that she spoke to you about it already. It was tough with what she did and then having to work with Harvey as well since she is his daughter (Ace): The perfect duo, right? Duela Dent and Harvey Dent. She mentioned that she and her father are not exactly that close though The world was no longer slowed down and confusing as it was a few minutes ago. It was now sped up and in flames. Lucy was starting to fully grasp everything, and her temper was going haywire. Lord have mercy on the souls that stray onto her path as she is in this state. (Ace): I have no idea how you have been working with the father of the girl that broke your heart (Cro): He and I have a great partnership and she was out of my life for a very long time. Harvey and I became great friends in that time and we never really brought her up (Ace): Even though he knew what she had done to you? (Cro): He didnt always know. She and I did not exactly enjoy talking about it. Her guilt and my shame was outmatched (Ace): I am going to tear her eyes out and feed them to her the next time I see her (Cro): No you will not. It was a long time ago and who knows? Maybe she has become a better person (Ace): They both really hurt you. It made you feel powerless and that is why you were so afraid that I was going to do that to you too (Cro): Its just that time it hurt like hell because she would have been my first and I wanted to marry her (Ace): It scares you more now because we have already been intimate and we are in the process of getting married since we got engaged? (Cro): I have more to lose now. As they say in Vegas, the stakes are much higher. I just felt that pushing you away was easier than watching you find what you wanted in someone else (Ace): If I wanted to be with anyone else then why would I be standing here? Technically sitting. Wearing an obnoxiously fancy engagement ring that could make a person blind They laugh and share a kiss as he realises that he was wrong to judge her based off of a fear. He had to communicate it with her instead of just jumping to conclusions and making more issues pop up. She asks him to join her in the bubble bath and the next morning something strange happens. (Ace): What the hell? (Cro): Its a letter from Joker. He is having a dinner to celebrate our engagement?
