To my friend. I did it and I hope this is all you hoped for:

Life is a constant stream of change. Nothing is ever the same. Every day things change and people grow. People drift apart and people meet. It is the natural order of things. But that doesn't make it any easier.

Kimberly Delgado and Rodrick Heffley used to be best friends. Ever since Kim gave him half of her cookie in grade school they were inseparable. Everyone expected them to be best friends forever.

But then middle school hit and they suddenly stopped talking to each other. No one knew what happened and if they asked, they would get different stories from the ex-friends. Kim said that Rodrick changed. Roderick said that Kim changed.

The truth was that they both changed but they were so hurt about losing their friend that they blamed each other. However, if they could just stop being angry at each other for one second and look at each other, they would see how much the other was struggling.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Sometimes people get so focused on their feelings that they forget other people have them too. Sometimes it's easier to see someone as a villain rather than listen to their side of the story.

Thankfully this is the story of how Kim and Rodrick managed to move past their anger and finally saw each other's side of things.

It all started when Kim began tutoring Rodrick.

Rodrick was not very smart and anyone who knew him knew this. After all, he named his band Löded Diper and misspelled every word. And since his father had stopped doing his schoolwork, his grades had been falling fast. So the school decided the best course of action would be to assign him a tutor.

Kim was a fairly smart student who was taking a college class. She had originally volunteered to be a tutor for community service, but there was no way she could have predicted she'd tutor Rodrick. When she found out she took it quite badly.

"Rodrick Heffley?! Are you kidding me?" she cried out.

Mr. Howard, the teacher who assigned Rodrick to her, raised an eyebrow. "Is there going to be a problem, Miss Delagado?"

Kim gulped and suddenly she felt like a little kid again. Mr. Howard was a nice enough teacher but she knew better than to test him. "No sir. I just wanted to make sure."

Mr. Howard nodded and dismissed Kim. The rest of the day was a blur to Kim. She just couldn't believe it. She was going to be tutoring Rodrick Heffley, Monday to Friday until five O'clock. It was going to be rough.

"I just can't wrap my head around it. Why would Rodrick Heffley need tutoring?" She asked.

Samatha, her best friend, slammed her locker and gave a judgemental look. "Because he needs help with school. I mean, he's not exactly the smartest kid at this school. Have you seen his essays? They look like they've been written by a toddler."

Kim snorted. "Given his methods, I wouldn't put it past him to get his little brother to write his essays."

"You mean Greg? The one in middle school?" Sam asked.

"No, I mean his youngest brother. You know, the literal toddler."

"Ohhhhhh. That makes sense."

Kim rolled her eyes but she was smiling. She turned to her locker, which was next to Sam's locker, and opened it up. She then took out all of her notebooks from class. If she was going to tutor Rodrick, she was going to need them.
