Soon enough Saturday came and Kim was ready as she would ever be. With the help of Sam, she found an outfit that seemed appropriate for an amusement park date. She wore a striped shirt and some jeans with her converse. She figured this was the most practical outfit as she was going to be walking around.

Once she was ready her mother dropped her out at Amusementland. She had arrived a couple of minutes early so Elijah wasn't there yet. Until she got there she had decided to try and calm her nerves. Everything was going to be fine. This date was going to be fine.

Rodrick had spent days leading up to Saturday planning ways to mess up the date. Then he realized what he was doing was wrong and that he shouldn't do that.

Truthfully he did not come to this conclusion on his own even though he did have a voice of reason telling him not to ruin the date. That voice was being overshadowed by a louder and stronger voice telling him to do it.

No, the reason he didn't go through on his plans of ruining the date was because of Sam. Joaquin came to hang out with Rodrick at his house when he came upon Rodricks plans to sabotage Kim's date. Word got back to Sam and before he knew it Sam was busting down his door and threatening him.

"I swear to God Rodrick Heffley, if you ruin this date for Kim I will destroy you!" She screamed at him.

Rodrick had been known for playing some minor pranks on his friends. Ever since he and Kim reconciled he had started playing some pranks on her. Soon Sam and Joaquin joined in and it was an all-around good time.

However, Sam was determined to make sure that this date didn't go wrong and she was going to do anything to make that happen.

It was at that moment Rodrick began to fear Sam.

So he promised Sam that he wouldn't ruin Kim's date. Sam was satisfied and then invited him to come and ensure that Kim's date went well. Rodrick was confused why she would ask him to do that.

"If Kim's date goes south without your help then she is going to need all her friends to support her," Sam explained.

Rodrick couldn't argue with that logic. Besides if Elijah did something to hurt Kim he wanted to be there and be able to "accidentally" run him over. When he told Sam, she told him that she would be in charge of that. That just made her even scarier.

So he had to watch from a distance while the girl he had a crush on went on a date with some guy. He watched as she waited, looking as beautiful as she always did, if not more. He watched as Elijah walked toward her smiling and waving. He watched as they entered the amusement park.

He was absolutely miserable. Why did he think he could do this? Why did he think he could watch the girl of his dreams go on a date and be okay?

But what if she did need him? He had to be there for her. And if that meant suffering and watching her be happy with someone else, he would deal with it. And also hide it.

However, he was not very good at hiding it, and Sam and Joaquin knew something was up.

"Are you okay?" Joaquin asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" Rodrick said.

"I don't know," Sam said. "You just look kind of sad."

"I'm not sad. I'm just," he tried to think of an excuse. "Constipated."

The couple looked at him in shock. "Okay," Sam said. "Hope you feel better." And that was the end of that.

Rodrick thanked them and then went back to watching Kim and Elijah trying to seem okay.

Meanwhile, Kim was doing pretty okay. She and Elijah had been having a great time so far. She had suggested that they get on some of the rides first and Elijah agreed. Elijah led her to the bumper cars reasoning that they should start small and then move up to the bigger rides.
