Chapter 6

"Joaquin, I need you to set me up with a guy," Kim told her friend.

Joaquin, although a little surprised, managed to roll his eyes. "What was that about how you were never to ask me that?"

Kim rolled her eyes. "It doesn't apply anymore. I need a date."

"I'm sorry but I'm not going to help you.l

"Why not?" She asked.

"Because you have feelings for Rodrick."

"That doesn't matter anymore. I need to move on from Rodrick. He doesn't like me, I've accepted it, now he'll me get a new guy." Kim stated.

"Even if I wanted to I'm not sure I could," Joaquin told her.

"Why?" She began to whine.

"I think Sam would kill me for getting in the way of Kimrick," Joaquin explained.

"So you decided Kimrick was the way to go?"

"I think it's the one that sounds the best."

Kim sighed. "Look, I don't know if I and Rodrick are going to happen and I can't just wait around waiting for it to happen. I need to move on. He's just my friend."

"But you could be so much more," Sam interjected.

Kim jumped back and glared. "How long have you been standing there?"

"Since you asked him to set you up."

"So the entire time."

"Yes."

Kim turned to Joaquin. "Is that why you were vehemently opposed to set me up?"

"Only a little bit. I'd still be opposed even if she wasn't here." Joaquin said.

"And that's why I'm dating you." Sam wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I thought it was because of my dashing good looks and charming personality."

"Those are bonuses."

While Kim would normally pretend to be disgusted with their cute romantic antics, now she was jealous.

"See, I want what you guys have," Kim said. "I want someone who I can flirt with and have fun with and tease and kiss."

"You have me to do that," Sam said. "Minus the kissing and flirting."

"Why not do that stuff with Rodrick?" Joaquin asked.

"Because he is not interested in him." Kim huffed. "How many times am I going to have to say that?"

"He didn't say he wasn't interested in you." Sam pointed out.

"He also didn't say he was interested in me," Kim said. "Look, I can't just continue to crush on Rodrick. I have to move on with my life and try to be happy."

"And you're sure that going out with some random guy is the best way to go?" Joaquin said.

"I think so. I mean the only guys I hang out with daily are you and Rodrick. I need to expand my horizons and such."

"Look, I think that you should talk to Rodrick about this," Sam suggested.

"Why should I? It's not like it's going to affect our friendship. Besides it's like I'm asking Rodrick if I have his permission to date and I don't need someone to do that. Especially Rodrick."

"That's fair. But I think the best way to move on is to tell him how you feel, he deserves to know." Sam argued. "And if he doesn't like you in that way, then you know it's time to move on."
