Chapter 37 - I don't need you

"Damn I fucked up!" I said to myself as I stared at the door Rolo just walked out of. I had to get myself together before I lose everybody that's close to me and I can't let that happen.

I really do love Rolo, at least I think I do? I'm just not used to having another man so close to me and actually wants to get to know me and my daughter and I appreciate his effort I just don't want anybody thinking I need a man to depend on. I've been on my own for the longest. It's hard trying to adapt to change.

"Mommy where did Ro go?" Jaleecia asked as she walked towards me. "H-He left baby." I said giving her a sad smile. "Why'd he leave mommy?" She asked being curious as always. "He had to go home." I said trying to push the subject. "You love him?" She giggled. "Girl what you know about love?" I smiled as I sat back into the couch. "You tell me you love me all the time. I think it means you really, really, really care about someone close to you." She said in a duh' tone as she made her hands go all over the place emphasizing really. "Your so smart." I chuckled.

"Well do you love him?" She asked jumping up and down on the couch. "Yes, yes I do baby just like I love you." I pinched her cheeks. "And stop jumping on my couches, you know better then that!" I said sternly. "Sorry" she sat down.

"Ziare!" I called to her stretching her name as I walked into her room and seen her laying on her bed typing away on her phone. "Ew, why do you look so ugh?" She said twisting her face up at me. "I feel so ugh." I chuckled lightly to myself.

"What's going on?" She asked as she put her phone by her side. "Everything!" I exagerrated. She didn't say anything waiting for me to explain.

"My mom stopped by to cause trouble then when I opened the door to escort her out Rolo was standing right there about to knock." I said "that's all? What else happened?" She asked interested.

"Oh my!" She said as her mouth formed a "O" and her hand placed on her heart. "You need to get your shit together Re... Rolo really cares for you and Jaleecia. Your being selfish towards Jaleecia also, that girl needs somebody other than you in her life and he's trying, He really is. Give him a chance!" She preached as always. I just rolled my eyes.

"Cause baby you are P-E-R-F-E-C-T" Trevis sang as he strolled in. Zi and I bust out laughing. "I didn't know you knew how to sing." I said looking at Trevis.

"You weren't supposed to know." He said. "Why not?" I asked curiously. "I didn't know you were in here." He said as he gave me a side hug and sat on Ziare's bed.

"What y'all talking about?" Trevis asked.

"Damn" Trevis said after I finished telling him the story I just told Zi. "Exactly.' Zi chimed in. "I know your getting tired of us saying that you need to fix things with Rolo but it's the truth sis." Trevis finished as he got up and left the room.

"I gotta go pick up my baby, I'll just call you later." I told Zi as I sat in my car. "Okay be safe and give my neice a kiss for me." She said as she waited for me to pull off before going back into the house.

"Mommy could we get some ice cream?" She asked me from the backseat. "Uhm I guess we can go get some ice cream." I answered pulling off into the direction of the ice cream shack.

"Hi ma'am how can I help you?" This boy around my age asked but I didn't hear him correctly because I was too busy staring at his greenish, grey eyes. He was actually fine as hell with his light skin tone and his pearly white teeth that had braces on them.

Oh God let me stop!

He cleared his throat causing me to snap back into reality. He smiled at me.
