[ Ziare ]
After I got off the phone with ZaCari I called Trevis and ReZay over so we could go out and do something productive. This whole week I've done nothing but sit around and be bored. I think it's time to make my self useful.
" Open the door , why you lock the door knowing we was coming?. Hurry up it's cold as hell." ReZay yelled through the door. "Right." Trevis cosigned. They always trying to gang up on me like I'm some type of lame to them. " Y'all keep talking all that stuff , I'll leave y'all outside and cold." I laughed as I stood up to unlock the door.
"Bout time, my dick was about to fall off." Trevis laughed as he walked in and kissed me on the forehead as ReZay followed suit.
"So what we about to get into today?" ReZay asked me. " Well I was thinking we could go to the homeless shelter and feed the people in need." I said kind of smiling to myself. I found it a good idea , helping out people who were less fortunate than us. " Since when did you get saved? Don't act like you wasn't just drunk the other night." Trevis joked. ReZay started laughing. " Oh my God! That is not funny... We don't speak of that night." I laughed as I covered my face getting embarrassed all over again.
The other night ReZay thought it was a good idea to go out and have some fun. We ended up going to a club called Eight-Ball. ReZay and I ended up getting drunk as hell. I started a fight with these two girls in the club because one of the girls had bumped into me and she spilled her drink on my dress. I ended up pushing her and her little minion said something smart so me and ReZay fought them. After we had gotten kicked out the club we played truth or dare and that resulted in all three of us trespassing into somebody's back-yard and swimming in their pool. That wasn't very Christian of me , the next day I regretted it.
"Baby you know I'm just playing with you. Anyways ReZay my Nigga Rolo said Wassup' wit it? Trevis said pulling out his phone. ReZay chocked on the drink she was sipping on and blushed. " What the hell he mean by wassup' wit it? Ain't nobody sweatin' that boy." ReZay said as she wiped the corners of her mouth.
"Girl don't act like y'all never had something going on with each other don't flex now." Trevis said as he stood up and went into the kitchen. "And? That was like months ago! Remember? I ended whatever we had because he wasn't ready to be committed to somebody with a child." She said as she raised her voice a little. " NO! ReZay you and I both know it wasn't because of Jaleecia. You know he treated that girl as if she was his own. Try again!" I said defending Rolo. " Right why you flexing?" Trevis asked walking back into the living room with a bottle of water and sitting on my lap. " Boy what the hell? Why are you on me?" I asked. "Girl shut up! I missed you." He smiled and I smiled back. "So your saying that's not the reason why I cut off all ties with him?" ReZay asked with a little attitude. She hated when we told her the truth. "Basically." Trevis and I said at the same time. "You were just playing games with him, your the one who was scared when he gave you no reason to not believe him. Get your act together ReZay , you're going to end up loosing the best thing that's ever happened to you other than Jaleecia. Think about it and when you do hit em' up." Trevis said. I looked at him surprised... I never knew he was good at stuff like this. Could've fooled me.
"Thank you." ReZay and I said to Trevis as he opened the door for the both of us as we walked into the Homeless shelter. "Hi, you guys must be the helper's for today?" This short dark skinned lady said. The name tag on her collar said that her name was Rochelle. "Yes we are." Trevis answered. " Well it's nice to meet you guys. I'm glad you guys could come. We don't normally get younger people to help us out. The others would love to see this. My names Rochelle." She smiled as she held her hand out to shake our hands. "And you are?" She asked me "I'm Ziare." I spoke as I shook her hand. "ReZay." She held her hand out for ReZay to shake. "And your a handsome young man, what's your name?" She said as she looked at Trevis. " Thank you Ma'am , My name is Trevis." He smiled. "Okay well today you guys will be feeding the homeless over there." She pointed in the direction of the kitchen. " The workers back there will tell you what to do, and on Monday's the homeless tell us about themselves and they sometimes teach us some lessons. You guys are more than welcome to stay and listen." She said. "Word? Yeah we'll stay for that too." Trevis said as he licked his lips and tucked his hands in his pockets. " That's good. Well you guys can head back there now somebody will show you what to do, they know you guys are coming." She said as she walked to the other side of the building.
After the workers told us what we had to do we began serving the people their food. " Do you think I could get a little bit more? I haven't ate in a long time." This little boy asked me. "It's against the rules for me to do that but yeah. I could give you a little more food... If you don't tell anybody." I whispered in his ear. He looked at me and smiled then he put his index finger towards his mouth. "I pinky promise." He smiled while he put his pinky finger up and I brought my pinky finger up and wrapped it around his.
I winked and put a little more food on his plate.
"I seen that." Trevis whispered. " I'm sure you did but he is so cute. I couldn't help it!" I pleaded. " it's sad to see little kids with no home and nothing to eat you know? It's heart breaking." I said to Trevis as I watched the little boy eat his food quickly. When he was done he stared at the plate sadly. "Damn you seen how sad he got? I'm going to go talk to him I'll be back." Trevis said as he walked towards the little boy.
"Sad isn't it?" ReZay walked up and spoke. "It really is. Are we already finished feeding them?" I asked focusing all my attention to ReZay. "Yeah were about to go over to the next room and listen to some of their stories." She said as I followed her and everybody else to the next room.
"Hi, my name is John." A old man stood up and waved his hand to everybody. "Hello" everybody replied. "Well, I've been homeless for about four years. My family has completely stopped talking to me. You don't know how much pain I've been through these last few years. I've slept through the cold , rain and anything you could think of. Every time I try and get back on my feet it seems like something is always in the way. It's hard you know , they see you down and sometimes people don't wanna help you out. I want the young people to know that you guys aren't the only ones struggling. There's so many more people that's situation is worse. Be appreciative to everything that you have. I don't have much but I appreciate everything that I have because it can be gone within a snap of a finger." He was interrupted by ReZay raising her hand. "Yes?" He asked. "Why are you smiling?" She asked. He laughed loud "That's a great question sweetheart. I laugh because I have every reason to smile. The sun is shining, people are laughing, kids are finally eating, we're all somewhere warm. This is great. I haven't had this in awhile , I smile because anybody could be watching." He finished. "What do you mean by that?" She asked. " In due time you'll understand." He answered and sat back down in his chair.
For the rest of the time being we listened to people talk about their lives, we watched them cry , smile and joke. Today was really good.
"Y'all ready to head out?" Trevis asked us. " Yeah." ReZay and I said in unison. As we were walking out the door somebody called out for us. I stopped to look and see who it was and it was the little boy I had spoken to earlier. "Hey kiddo?" I smiled as I bent down to his height. "When are you coming back? I really like you guys. You're the only one that has actually cared to be nice to me. The other people who come and help out aren't as nice as you'd think." He said. "Sure we can come back soon honey. What's your name?" I asked. "Jace" he simply said. "Here Jace, take this." I said writing down my number on a piece of paper and handing it to him. "Whenever you need or want to talk to me find somebody with a phone here and ask them if it's okay for you to call me. My names Ziare. Don't loose this number okay? You promise you won't lose it?" I told him. " I promise." He smiled as he stuck his pinky finger out. "I promise." I intertwined my pinky finger with his, hugged him and then left.
"We should do this more. I feel so much better about myself when I do good deeds." I said. They all agreed and we were on our way back home.
Today was nice.
