                                   1999
                               May 30th

(JOANS POV)

I finished putting on my lipstick after getting out the shower.

I did a little bit more on my makeup, then style my hair into a wavy-ish down with a side braid on the left of my head.

I put my prom dress on. It was a red dress that went also down to my ankles, a bit past my knees.

It was tight, so it clung to my body.

I put on a necklace with a silver heart shaped locket on it.

I put on small golden hoop earrings.

I looked in my mirror, thinking for a moment.

It was senior year, I was turning 18 in two days.

I looked down at my flip phone, then grabbed it and started dialing.

I called the number, ringing me for about 45 seconds.

"Who the fuck is this?" the voice said on the other end.

"Oh, uh.. hey Sidney.." I said quietly.

"Joan?" The other end asked.

"Yeah, it's me.."

Sidney's breath was shaking.

"Why are you calling me?" She asked.

"Well uh, prom is tonight and I was just, calling to remind you.. I guess."

"You already know I don't do party's."

"Yeah but, I-.." I trailed off.

"Just think about it." I said finally.

"Fine." Sidney said before hanging up.

I sighed and grabbed a small handbag and shoved a few things in it then left my room

1 hour later

Prom had just started, and the gym was already filled.

3 hours into prom, I had already ran into Harley.

She had been wearing a long, white dress that clipped in the middle of her waist. She has white pants on and the collar was a v neck.

She had light makeup on

I was sitting on a bleacher at the end of the gym where I could see the whole gym.

I looked at the gym entrance to see a familiar  face walk in.

Sidney was wearing a light brown suit with a white tee on under it. It was a short v-neck so you could see it.

She didn't seem to do anything with her hair, and she didn't have makeup on.

I think she saw someone, cause she stared dead at the person.

She then ran out.

I threw myself off the bleachers and ran out the gym door as well.

There weren't many people out here, only a few people.

I looked both ways, then decided to go left.

After about 30 minutes I still couldn't find Sidney, and I figured she went home.

I was gonna go back to the gym until I passed by a janitors closet and heart faint music and weeping.

I slowly opened the door and walked in.

I saw Sidney sitting on the floor, listening to her Walkman. Her eyes were closed, and she was crying softly.

"Sidney?" I asked softly.

She looked up quickly and threw her headphones off, the whiped her tears and clicked her Walkman so it would stop playing music.

I sat next to her.

"Who did you see?" I asked.

"Harley." Sidney replied softly.

I breathed out.

"Fuck." She said softly.

"I wish Sasha was here." She said, then looked the other way so I couldn't see her face.

"Me too.."

"No you don't. You didn't know Sasha or Cole like I did. Sasha, she's so kind and sweet. She couldn't give two shits about what anyone thought of her or me. She always stood up for everyone. And Cole, he was so shy." She chuckled a bit.

"Whenever someone was staring in his direction, he'd always look down. He got so severely bullied he almost moved to California. But we helped him. If Jacob didn't kill him, he would've been such a enthusiastic person."

She buried her head in her knees.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"Sorry for what."

"Jacob.."

"It's not you're fault."

I left it at that.

"What's up with you and Harley.

"Well, we're still friends, I guess. We haven't been talking that much. I don't have the energy to talk to her. I think about talking to her, but I can't go up to her without flash backs. She's hanging out with all her other new popular friends anyway."

I stood up and dragged Sidney up with me.

"What the hell are you doing?" She said, irritatedly.

"You're going to talk to Harley." I said.

"No, absolutely not."

"Sidney, you can't be like this. I can't watch you be like this. If you never gave you're fears, you're always gonna be scared. You're trauma isn't gonna get better." I said calmly.

I dragged her out the janitors closet and into the girls bathroom.

"What if I don't want too?" Sidney asked.

"You don't have a choice."

I grabbed tissues and whiped her tears.

"Now," I said, grabbing my hand bag and opening it.

"No-" Sidney said quickly as she looked at all the beauty products in the bag.

"Just a light blush or something-" I begged.

"No." She said coldly.

"Sasha would want you too. I know she would."

Sidney rolled her eyes as another tear rolled out.

"LIGHT makeup." She reminded me.

"Yay!" I yelped as I whiped her tears off.
