By the time Friday rolled around, Luke had pulled his head out of his ass (with some very persuasive, and slightly aggressive, texts from me) and was now eating and hanging out with the group again.
It was kind of awkward in the beginning, especially when we'd heard about his drunken night the night we fought. But now we were ripping into him about it and he was back to rolling his eyes and flipping us off. He would stop every now and again and flash his I'm sorry eyes at me. But I shrugged him off and didn't let it get to me.
This week we were joined by Shayna, Scott's current conquest, and she seemed nice enough. Though she was a total airhead and puck bunny, which made Lexi, Tate and I mock her behind her back. Not in a super mean way, we just needed to talk about what we thought of her where she couldn't hear us. It wasn't like we were nasty to her face, we just had observations about her personality that we shouldn't say to her face.
Fraser had been going through one of his seclusion moods, and I knew it was just so he wouldn't flake at the party. Like he had to save all his social for the night, because he wouldn't stay long or maybe even come in the first place if he spent it all during the week.
I didn't care because at least he wasn't being a complete ass to me, like he had been in the past. Like I said, ignore the bad with him.
And now the reality was we were meeting downstairs in the quad at 7 and I was ushered into Lexi's room after dinner so that she could do my hair, or something to make me more of a girl. She made me run back to Centennial to grab some clothes for the party and meet her in her room in no less than five minutes.
Naturally I protested everything she suggested and eventually she sighed and looked at me.
"I know you're not comfortable with makeup. But your hair would look so nice done and your eyes are so fucking bright, imagine how some dark makeup would make them pop! Puh-lease let me do something!" I knew she was dying to do this, so I sighed and looked at her.
"How long do you think my hair will take to straighten?" Her eyes looked like they were about to bulge out of her head.
"Can we wave it? I think that will only take like 20 minutes and it'll look so much nicer than it straight! And then maybe a little makeup. You can still wear whatever you want to wear, but this will just elevate the whole look!"
"Fine, go ahead" I caved. Lexi immediately plugged in a contraption that looked like a triple prong dildo or something. Lexi assured me it wasn't and that it would instead give me beach waves, rather than the curly mess I currently had. She brushed through my hair, sprayed it with a strawberry scent of sorts and went to town. She purposefully had me face away from her mirror so that I wouldn't see myself. After working for what seemed like forever, she finally put the dildo down and clapped excitedly.
"Can I please put a little make up on you?" I immediately rolled my eyes and began to protest, but Lexi cut me off.
"Come on Carter! Nothing crazy, just mascara and a little eyeliner to make your eyes really pop."
"I don't know Lex"
"It'll drive Luke mad" I let my eyes look into hers, her eyebrows raised as if to say well? I sighed and nodded. She squealed once more and grabbed some things off her vanity, poking my eyes with different pencils and wands until she finally stepped away with a triumphant grin.
"I don't even want to look at myself"
"Lay off Carter, you see what I do to my face with makeup. Do you seriously think I've done a bad job?"
"Is it rude for me to answer yes?" In response, Lexi tugged my hair playfully.
"Alright I'm sorry! Okay, I'll look at myself."
