By the time I pulled Fraser's car into the parking ramp, it was almost eleven pm and the three of us were exhausted. Luke had woken up after about an hour and a half and the three of us just chatted and listened to music, trying to keep each other positive about the trip having already been so long but still not being done yet.
"Thanks for driving Pruitt" Luke said, pulling me into a hug. I hugged him back and nodded.
"Thanks for driving for most of the day while I slept" He shrugged.
"Eh, it was nothing. McGill and I chatted while you drooled all over him"
"I don't drool!" Luke was grinning, I pulled away from the hug and slapped him.
"You're an asshole"
"Maybe, but it's fun to fuck with you"
"Whatever, we're going to go sleep now" Luke said goodnight to us and made his way towards Centennial while I followed Fraser to Pioneer. The campus felt as empty as it probably was. Most people had left campus altogether, with a huge chunk probably leaving the state as well. I mean, technically we did leave the state. But that was only for one full day, really. We'd left Wednesday morning and now it was Friday night and we were back.
"Come on, I'm shattered" Fraser grabbed my hand and pulled me towards Pioneer.
"You and me both. I kind of need to shower"
"You can in my room. I have spare towels and you have all your toiletries from the weekend"
"That's right. I forget I'm coming to your room with an entire duffel of stuff"
"I'm amazed you packed less than Bennett"
"Are you really?"
"No, I'm more surprised he managed to pack somewhat lightly." I chuckled as we stepped into the elevator.
"Yeah that's weird. He seems like the kind of guy who needs five outfits per day, just in case"
"In case what? He shits through the first four each day?" I laughed loudly this time, making Fraser grin as he pulled me in to kiss me.
"God, will anything ever feel normal?" I shook my head.
"Doesn't seem like it"
"Oh well, let's go to bed. That's about as normal as you and I get nowadays" I nodded as the elevator stopped on his level. I went straight for the bathroom and welcomed the hot water like an old friend, finally feeling the tense emotion that had been lingering over me slip away and wash down the drain. I didn't want to take too long. It was closing in on midnight and for all I knew, Fraser wanted a shower too.
But once I'd finished and dried and dressed, I opened the door to his room to find him already asleep in the bed. I shook my head, brushing and braiding my hair back quickly before closing his blinds, locking his door, and turning off his light before carefully climbing into bed next to him.
He woke up slightly, only enough to shift back against the wall and wrap his arms around me, then he was straight back to sleep. I relaxed and also fell asleep, not before plugging both of our phones into their chargers and making sure the radiator was on low. Because I knew he hated the cold, and I always felt the cold. And no matter how much body heat this man could produce in his slumbered state, I knew he would not appreciate waking up to a cold room, seeing as compared to the 60º weather we'd just been having in Dallas, the 40º Minnesota weather was almost diabolical.
When I woke up in the morning, Fraser still appeared to be sleeping. I yawned and stretched, noticing Fraser's eyes flicker open.
"Morning" He yawned.
