Straightening up, I looked him straight I'm the eyes and spoke. "Not exactly, no. I'm not one to ask for your permission, however, my life is much needed by many others right now and I would rather not die at this moment. I want to visit the castle's greenhouse."

For seconds which seemed like hours, the Angel stared at me in a monotone expression before bluntly replying, "ah yes. And as much as I would love to take your life, I doubt the Devil would be too pleased." He smiled mockingly. "So, unless you want to end up really badly hurt, I suggest you follow my rules. Fair?"

I glared at him for a moment, and I thought of his words before I made up my mind.

"Fair."

A large grin played the Angel's lips before he exhaled.

"Brilliant. I can't wait to mingle with you, Scarlett. This is going to be wonderful."

----

"Well then, let's go!" he beamed, a grin playing his face brilliantly as he shut the door behind him and led me down the hallway. I was confused as to why he seemed so content. Perhaps he finally decided to come into terms with the fact he couldn't avoid me or provide me with harsh glances forever. Perhaps this triggered his mind into working positively. I smiled and gave him a side glance, only for my brain to flood with flashbacks of torturous dreams in which he was included. Just him.

I frowned and huffed as I sped up to catch up to his large strides. Only for him to walk faster.

"Would you mind slowing down? My legs aren't exactly the quickest." All he gave me was a side glance and the furrowing of his eyebrows to signal that his previous exploding smiles didn't mean our relationship would sprout any time soon.

However, as much as I wasn't looking forward to 'mingling' with the bastard of an Angel, I was just as thrilled to know I would be in the presence of beauty, for the first time in a while.

And as always, I was led through hallways, lit only by the darkness that enticed their excitement. I walked steadily, counting my breaths to distract myself from the echoing drones of demons that lurked disturbingly. And unlike me, the Angel went for large strides, occasionally sliding his hands out of his pockets to feel over the smooth, stone walls.

"Are you afraid?" his voice stabbed the silence, and although it was delicate, it seemed to consume much of the evil surrounding us.

"No," I replied boldly.

I had no reply, but the short chuckle he released was enough for me to understand.

He thought I was lying.

"You think I'm lying?" Questioning him was my way of telling him to shut up with the continuous laughing. It seemed all he did around me was cackle in some sort of way, whether it was of excitement or menacing reasons.

"Oh, Scarlett," he began. "You really are quite amusing."

Before I could reply, we turned a corner, one which seemed like it would lead to the gates of heaven.

In defence, I held my forearm over my eyes, wondering so frequently what caused the brightness.

"Don't let this phase you. This castle doesn't contain so many beautiful places and objects," the winged creature said as we neared a door. Nex a large bull-like figure with a weapon clutched tightly in its hand.
