And as he stepped forward, I narrowed my eyes. His posture was lean, confident as he took small, careful steps towards me. When he was inches away from me, he gazed to the ground almost shyly, before averting his eyes back towards me. And in one swift, but horrifyingly slow move, he leaned forward, until his lips brushed my ear."Because darling, if this is what you call torture, then obviously hell an indestructible force of infuriation and destruction: you try getting out of it, and the pain will worsen. And while it pains your empty, dying soul of misery, I will stand over you, watching, smiling, laughing at your struggling soul. Because like I said, darling, in the end, we are all monsters. And there you will be: a petite form of a young, striking girl, nevertheless a monster. There, you will suffer a monster, realizing only moments later that you are the only one causing yourself pain. And there, you will die, an empty soul, with only regret to haunt the remains of your floating memories."

In the past, when I had a normal life with surroundings of normality, people would talk. Yes, the small village that I lived in was a ground of peaceful harmony and love, however, things would spread. Whether it was about the next door neighbour's cat or the boy that stole a chocolate from the corner shop, things would spread.
And when such things would spread, the wave of chaos that began was an enduring force in itself.
Normally, however, these rumours would die down, sooner or later. I never much involved myself in any of it, unless I was alone with my brother, in the meadow by our house. We would converse freely, with just the sound of whistling birds to harmonize our talks. In the end, we would laugh it off, and forget. But, when stories of the Devil and the darkened angel rose in a condensive manner: above the waters and the once exotic lands, the talking never died down. It was an explosive weapon that caused more chaos than ever before, with fighting adults and crying children. Few of those who didn't believe in such creatures would start protests, marching across cities and towns and villages as they held signs and shouted.
And when all this began, I stayed inside the boundaries of my home, not involving myself in any of it, but by listening to my grandmother's stories.
And she believed in the Devil and the tainted Angel.
The human race began to rupture, shattering itself into obliterated shards of weakness. Governments lost power. Police forces were incapable of ordering their people as they pleased. Jobs were lost, and lives were taken as people lost hope, which led to losing control of themselves. The only people that were able to restore themslves were the wise ones: those who stayed put, and believed that the Devil was truly powerless; only a creature that could tell the difference between those who were strong and those who were weak. That resulted in him controlling the weak, and when those were demolished, he would go after the stronger ones, wiping them out just as easily. Those people (the ones with hope) believed they could destroy the Devil.
People would hibernate in their local pub for hours on end, a drink clutched tightly in their hands as they listened to the gruesome stories of the Devil, and the hell he took control of. It had been months since the rumour took off, and by then, no once could stand up against it. Earth had already had half of its lands destroyed. The once awake and alluring nature had shriveled up, leaving places to look abandoned; untaken care of. Animals, those who were anything but harmful; the ones that would wander around villages and fields: they were all killed, leaving piles of blood to trickle over fences and to pool on roads.
