The large gates guarding the fire burst open. A sudden rush of warm air brushed past me, and I gasped as my hair flew. But, what caught my attention most was the raging army of dancing flames that the gates released.

The fire.

Ready to destroy another soul.
-

Whilst my eyes took in the scene of a shaking boy a few feet away from me, I couldn't help but study him. His posture, much different from before, was stuff, fists clenched and he panted heavily.

For a brief moment, the boy appeared as if he were to crumble and weep. But, there he stayed, Adam's apple bobbing insignificantly while his eyes glimmered. With ease, I could read him. Every aspect of him was an open book to me, appealing to my every sense, in every way. I wasn't so sure if the Devil smirking at him felt the obvious radiation of fear hovering around the boy, however, I knew my capability to understand his emotions were everything but normal.

The warmth of the blazing fire heated it's surroundings, blowing my hair towards the side, and I bit my lip in impatience while the Devil observed the boy, eyes fixed on not only his posture, but his feelings: his current emotions and thoughts. An empecible creature, the Devil was. Merciless, heartless, though his mind remained a cunning aura of mystery. I doubted anyone understood him, other than his companion, the darkened Angel.

Several loud shrieks erupted from the angered flames of the fire. I gasped abruptly at the sound and as I turned to face it, my heart pounded forcefully against my chest. I swallowed in fright. My hands struggled to stay still as they clung onto my gown.

The screams continued to echo, one after the other. The boy, who minutes ago, remained silent, was now wide-eyed, body shaking in fear. I really felt for him. Our reactions towards the Devil's doings were similar in a way. We had both remained silent, obeying him no matter how much we'd try to seem strong. However, just when we thought it could finally come to an end, the bellowing of his tortorous actions would send us to our knees.

The way the Devil wrapped his arms around the boy's shoulders made me cringe, but the boy didn't respond, physically nor verbally. He was led to the end of the room, where the fire was, spitting out grains of fluorescent coal at its nearest reaches. The screeches and groans from the fire increased terribly. My teeth chattered, and I but my tongue in hopes it would all come to an end.

Nothing changed.

I felt for the roots of my hair as I gripped it, face contorting in what could only be described as confusion and destroyed emotion. It was too much for me. All of it. Not a glint of pity towards the boy glistened in the Devil's eyes. Only greed and power and authority.

"You hear that?" he asked the adolescent boy, lips hovering over his ear as he spoke breathily. "I think the souls are hungry." He chuckled heavily when the boy stiffened prominently, and he only glided his hands into the expensive fabric of his dress pants before nodding towards the fire.

It took several seconds before the view of blurred shadows emerged from the exotic dancing of the flames. They were reaching out, claws growing at an endless rate while they struggled to move further forward. Few clung onto the metal bars, and piercing, clinking sounds echoed around the large room of a darkened atmosphere.

Helplessly, the boy began to move towards them, like the force of magnetism was pulling them together; this time the boy acting as the metal, whilst the deadly silhouettes absorbed him like the magnet itself.
