the disappearance of eleven

SPEEDING BACK TO THE SCHOOL, SAM WAS SURPRISED SHE DIDN'T GET PULLED OVER. When she slid to a stop in the gravel lot, she cursed under her breath. The bad men found them.
Jumping out of the car and running inside, Sam nearly slipped over the blood and bodies. The lights were flickering, and none of this looked good.
"Boys?" Sam yelled. "Eleven?"She heard faint struggles and ran forward. One classroom door was off its hinges and strewn in the hall. She looked inside to find the Demogorgon trapped against the wall, a pale and sickly Eleven holding it back.
"Eleven?" She walked into the room. The girl glanced at her with a sad smile. She then turned and a tear ran down her face.
"Goodbye, Mike." She whispered. Turning back to the monster, she raised her hand. "No more."
And with an ear piercing scream, either from the Demogorgon or El Sam could figure it out, the lights shone bright. Looking back up, both their friend, and their enemy, was gone.
"El? El?" Mike began yelling.
"Eleven?" Dustin joined in.
"Eleven? El?" Lucas shouted. Sam sniffed, tears running down her face.
"El, where are you? Eleven?" Mike screamed.
"Guys." Sam stumbled forward. "She's gone." The boys sobbed, and when Sam held her arms open, they practically fell into her embrace.-
Sitting in the hospital waiting room, Sam bounced her leg rapidly. Dustin and Lucas had fallen asleep not too long ago, but Mike was also unable to sleep. Even Steve was there, but it was probably for Nancy. When Johnathan walked into the room, Mike and Sam looked up hopefully. He nodded once, but it was enough.
Jumping up, Sam smacked Lucas and Dustin's arms.
"Guys, get up. Up, get up!" Sam tugged on them. "Will's awake. He's up, come on." She and Mike rushed down the hall, the other two hot on their heels. When they burst in the room, their smiles were huge.
"Byers!" Lucas laughed. They each got a turn hugging their friend.
"Guys, be careful." Sam warned. She stood back with Johnathan and smiled.
"You won't believe what happened when you were gone, man!" Lucas started happily.
"It was mental!" Dustin added.
"You had a funeral." The Sinclair boy told him.
"Jennifer Hayes was crying." Dustin piped in.
"And Troy peed himself." Lucas laughed.
"What?" Will laughed.
"In front of the whole school." The curly haired boy smiled. Will began coughing.
"You okay?" Mike nudged him gently.
"It got me. The Demogorgon." Will told them grimly.
"We know. But it's okay. It's dead." The raven haired boy informed him. "We made a new friend. She stopped it. She saved us. But...she's gone now."
"Her names Eleven." Dustin told him.
"Like the number?" Will pinched his eyebrows together.
"Well, we call her 'El' for short." Lucas shrugged.
"She's basically a wizard." Dustin shrugged as well.
"She has superpowers." Lucas whispered.
"More like a Yoda." Mike compared.
"She flipped a van with her mind, and these agents were trying to shoot us-" Dustin continued.
"Then she squeezed their brains out-"
"And blood was pouring out of their faces."
Sam chuckled and turned, only to find Nancy with a sad look on her face. She sighed, stepping towards the girl and pulling her into a hug.
"I'm so sorry, Nance." Sam mumbled.
"Thanks." The teen sniffed. She then pulled away and walked out. Sam walked back to Johnathan.
"Johnny, I'm so sorry." She finally blurted out.
"For what?" He chuckled nervously.
"I should have made sure he got home. If I had none of this would have happened." Sam rubbed her face.
"Sammy, you are the best sister / babysitter Will could have. None of this is your fault." He slung his arm over her shoulders. Sam nodded.
"Okay."One month later
"Something's coming. Something angry." Mike spoke grimly, glancing around his party members. "Hungry for your blood. It was almost here."
"What is it?" Will blurted out anxiously, even though he hardly kept the smile from his face.
"It's the Thessalhydra, I'm telling you." Dustin stated confidently.
"It's not the Thessalhydra." Lucas slouched back, unconvinced.
"I don't know, Sinclair. Kinda abounds like a Thessalhydra." Sam shrugged in defense of her brother.
"It is the Thessalhydra, I'm telling you." The youngest Henderson spoke up just before Mike slammed a game piece down.
"The Thessalhydra!" The Wheeler boy confirmed. The party simultaneously groaned.
"Damn it." Dustin huffed.
"It roars in anger! Will, your action?" Mike asked quickly.
"What should I do?" Will glanced around the table to his friends.
"Fireball him!" Lucas motioned to the board.
Dustin thought on it. "Fireball the son of a bitch." They turned to Sam.
"Might as well." She crossed her arms. Will scooped up the dice and shook them around. Tossing them gently on the table, it was silent for only a moment.
"Fourteen!" Sam cheered jumping up in excitement.
"Direct hit! Will the Wise's fireball hit the Thessalhydra. It makes a painful-" Mike stood and mimicked a screech. "And then..." he dropped down. "It crumbles to the ground. It's clawed hand reaches for you one last time and, and, and..." Mike played dead. The group jumped up and cheered. Bro hugs and dancing commenced quickly.
"Lucas cuts off its seven heads and Dustin places them into his bag of holding." Mike continued narrating. Dustin held his book bag up triumphantly.
"You carry the head out of the dungeon, victorious, and you present them to King Tristan. He thanks your for your bravery and service." Mike concluded swiftly.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Slow your roll, Michael Wheeler. That's it?" Sam held her hand out.
"Well, there's a medal ceremony-"
"Oh, a medal ceremony?" Dustin mocked.
"The campaigns too short!" Will complained.
"It was 10 hours." Mike reminded them.
"Yeah, but it doesn't make any sense." Dustin pointed out.
"It's makes sense!" Mike protested.
"Uh, no, what about the Lost Knight?" Sam questioned.
"And the Proud Princess?" Lucas added.
"And those weird flowers in the cave?" Will jumped in.
"I don't know it's just-" Mike tried to redeem himself when the door opened. Johnathan came walking down the stairs.
"Jeez, what's that smell? Have you guys been playing games all day or just farting?" He questioned them. The boys laugh but Sam picked up the nearest pillow and threw it at him.
"Hey, asshole. I'm in here too!" The Henderson girl reminded.
"Oh, that explains it." Johnny didn't miss a beat. The boys roared with giggles. Sam jumped up and ran over to Johnathan, jumping on his back and digging her knuckles into his hair.
"Ow, ow! Samantha!" Johnathan wiggled her off his back.
"Next time I won't be so merciful." Sam pointed threateningly at him.
"Will, you ready to go?" Johnathan asked his brother, the boy in question nodded grabbing his things.
"Bye guys." Will said as he walked towards Johnny.
"Bye Will!" The party answered, giving him high fives and quick hugs.
Lucas and Dustin began play fighting. Sam laughed at them.
"Come on, Lucas! Beat his ass!" The blonde cheered. She glanced to Mike, who was staring sadly at El's old fort. She placed her hand on the boys shoulder.
"She'll be back. I know it." Sam smiled reassuringly. Mike smiled as well and nodded, turning back to the fight between his friends.
Sam smiled, happy that her one Christmas wish came true: Will back home, and things back to normal. And just like that, 1983 was over.season one finale / chapter sixteen
