pep rallies

BEING BANISHED TO THE BACK SEAT WAS ALEAYS WHAT SAM GATED MOST WHEN DRIVING TO SCHOOL. However, today, she didn't mind it as much. Today was the big day, pep rally day that every student in Hawkins loved. Except for the losers like her.
Laying across the back seats, Sam groaned in annoyance as Steve recanted a date story. Everyone knew the Henderson girl hated his dating nightmares, but no one really knew the true reason why. Not to mention the fact that is was way to early to be talking about the Harrington man's sex life.
"And then there's Heidi tomorrow night, but the problem with Heidi is that she's going out of state for college. So it's like, do I really wanna start another relationship that has no point other than sex?" Steve ranted while Robin put on mascara. "I mean, I don't know. Does that make sense to either of you?" After a beat of silence he speaks up again "Sam, Robin, are you listening?"
"Nope." Sam pushed herself up and leaned forward to the front of the car, listening Robin stumble over her words.
"Uh, yes. I'm listening. I listening." The Buckley teen rambled.
"Well, what did I say? What did I just say?" Steve challenged.
"Something about sex with...with Linda." Robin guessed.
"No! I'm talking about Heidi!" Steve scoffed.
"Cut us some slack, Steve. All you do is talk about sex and there are so many names you throw out I don't even remember who Heidi is." Sam tried to calm them down, taking the mascara from Robin and putting some on herself.
"Yes, please! Your love life is one of labyrinthine complexity. It is seven in the morning, we have go to the stupid pep rally, and I woke up looking like a total corpse." Robin added in manically.
"You're - You're worried about a basketball pep rally? You expect us to believe that?" Steve waved her off.
"Yeah? So?" The Buckley teen mumbled.
"So, we all know what this is really about. I'm not buying your bullshit, right Steve?" Sam poked her friends arm teasingly.
"Yeah, exactly. This is about Vickie." The Harrington man nodded along.
"Absolutely not." Robin rubbed chapstick along her lips.
"Yes, it is. And you know what else I think?" Steve looked back to the road.
"I really don't care-" Robin tried.
"I think you gotta stop pretending to be someone else when you're around her. Okay? You just gotta be yourself."
"You're literally quoting what we told you, you realize that, right?" Sam jumped into the argument again.
"Well, maybe you need to listen to yourself. You ever think about that, smarty pants?" The Harrington teen glanced back towards Robin. "I listened to you guys and now look at me. Boom. Back in business."
"Tell that to Heidi." The Henderson teen mumbled, receiving a crumpled up recite to the head by the drive.
"It's not the same thing, Steve." Robin snapped her makeup closed.
"Well..." Steve tried to reason.
"Mm. You ask out a girl and she says no, big deal. Nothing happens. Maybe your ego's a little bruised. But I ask out the wrong girl, and bam, I'm a town pariah." The Buckley teen rambled.
"I mean, I'm a town pariah." Sam shrugged nonchalantly. "Everyone knows to watch out because I will give their girlfriends the best sex of their lives."
"Ew." Steve cringed. "Anyway, I'd buy that shit, Robin, except Vickie is definitely not the wrong girl."
"We just don't know that, do we?" Robin sprayed something into her mouth, quickly spitting it back out.
"Well, she did return Fast Times paused at fifty three minutes, five seconds." The blonde winked dramatically.
"Yeah, and you know who pauses Fast Times at fifty three minutes, five seconds? People who like boobies, Robin!" Steve reminded.
"Ew, gross. Don't say boobies." The Buckley teen cringed as Sam snorted a laugh.
"Boobies." The Harrington man retaliated. "It's not a big deal, okay? I like boobies, Sam likes boobies, you like boobies."
"Vickie likes boobies. Definitely." Sam nodded along. Robin shook her head, keeping quiet as to not rile them up again.
"It's boobies." Steve finished.
