THREE MONTHS LATER AS STILL EVERYTHING WAS CRAZY. New vans had been in and out of the small town consistently, trying to get any and all interviews of 'witnesses' to the weird phenomenon going on in town. Multiple times Sam had been approached in the street with cameras and microphones shoved in her face. However, her response was always the same.
"Go fuck yourself, pig." She'd yell before walking the other way with her middle finger held towards them.Steve pulled his car into a parking space outside Family Video. Robin and Sam climbing out as they read each other's resumes.
"You put your mom down as a reference?" Sam snorted a laugh.
"Yeah. Why not? She's, like, super well-respected." The Harrington teen waved her off as he jogged up to the door.
"You're such a dingus." Robin laughed as she and Sam rushed through the now open walkway."Uh, just to be clear, we weren't fired." Robin protested as Keith read over the papers. "The mall burned down and killed a bunch of people."
"Well, I was fired." Sam countered with a nonchalant shrug. "The people in that cafe always had a bone to pick for no good reason."
"Thanks for sharing." Keith kept his eyes on Sam a moment longer than necessary before looking at Robin. "Didn't know."
"Three favorite movies, go!" He then ordered, snapping his fingers at the Buckley girl.
"Uh...The Apartment, Hidden Fortress, Children of Paradise." She listed confidently.
"You, go." Keith then snapped at the blonde.
"Oh, Alien, Children of the Corn, and uhm...Oh! The Shining!" Sam listed off.
"Okay, and you, go." The manager snapped to Steve.
"Favorite movies?" The Harrington teen repeats.
"Did I stutter?" Keith squinted his eyes.
"Uh...Animal House, for sure." He raked his brain while Robin scoffed.
"Eyes on me, Harrington." Keith widened his eyes dramatically.
"Yeah, uh...Star Wars." Steve smiled.
"A New Hope?" The manager clarifies.
"A new what now?"
"Which Star Wars?"
"Oh, the one with the teddy bears, duh." The Harrington teen imitated them horribly. He glanced to his friends for help, but while Sam was crouched down laughing Robin was shaking her head.
"No? Uh...Oh, the one that just came out. The movie that just came out. The one with the DeLorean and Alex P. Keaton, and he's trying to bang his mom. Yeah, those are my top three. Classics." Steve stopped trying. Sam collected herself, standing back up next to Robin.
"Okay, you two start Monday." Keith pointed at the girls who nodded happily. He then turned to Steve. "You start never."
"Will you just, uhm, give us a minute?" Robin nudged her friend.
"Why?" He pushed stubbornly.
"Steve." Sam whisper yelled while motioning her head away. With a sigh, the brunette turned and meandered about the store.
"Alright, you have to understand, Keith." Robin began as soon at their friend was out of ear shot. "I know his taste is a bit pedestrian, but the dingus has other qualities."
"He's a douchebag of the highest order, Robin." Keith deadpanned.
"Okay, sure, he was a bit of a prick in high school, but he is still a total chick magnet. I mean, where he goes, babes follow." Sam jumped in with a suggestive smile.
"Yeah, okay, and this is relevant to me how?" The manager scoffed.
"Uhm, Earth to Keith." Robin leaned in dramatically. "The ladies will come in just to see him. They'll come in in droves. Droves, Keith."
"Yeah, and they sold so much ice cream, they had to get a second shipment from Michigan. Goddamn Michigan." Sam nodded along persuasively. "And these ladies..." She trailed off with a sharp inhale.
"These ladies are hot. They're so very hot." Robin bounced off. "And there are too many of them for little Steve. He needs assistance."
"He needs your assistance, Keith." Sam finalized for them both.
With a loud crunch of his chips, he answered. "What's in it for you? You got a thing for him or something?" The manager asked openly, not directing this question at either of them just to get their reactions.
Just then, the idiot himself slammed into a cardboard cutout of Phoebe Cates. He quickly grabbed it trying his best to fix it nonchalantly.
"He's - We're..." Sam shook her head at him before turning back around.
"We're just friends. All of us." Robin answered quickly with a convincing smile.
"Oh! Fast Times. Fast Times! Ever heard of it?" The Harrington teen called over. "Top three for me, Keith."
Robin and Sam snickered at him, convinced they finally got a job for the dumbass.-
LATER THAT DAY, SAM FORCED STEVE TO DRIVE HER TO THE BYERS HOME. Today was the last day of moving before the family would leave, and Sam swore she'd be there.
Jumping from the red vehicle, the Henderson girl waved a quick goodbye before jogging inside the eerily empty house.
"Turn around, look at what you see!" Lucas and Max sung loudly.
"In her face, the mirror of your dreams!" Sam laughed along as she walked in.
"Rhymes that keep their secrets, will unfold behind the clouds!" The three harmonized mockingly as Dustin waved his middle finger around.
"Wait, did we get that verse right?" Max stopped them dramatically. "It's 'unfold behind the clouds'?"
"Yeah, but your butchering it. So could you please stop?" The curly haired boy huffed out.
"So then join in, Dusty-bun." Lucas teased, blowing a kiss.
"Yeah, come on Dusty-bun. Why don't you join us?" Sam crossed her arms as she leaned against the wall.
"You guys are so funny, you should be on Carson." Dustin deadpanned. "And Sam, you literally kissed Steve! So shut up."
"Oh, yeah!" Lucas laughed. "Sam and Steve, sitting in a tree..."
"K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Max finished. Sam rolled her eyes, tossing a roll of tape she'd found at them.
"Can we just heard a rendition of the song, Dust? Just one verse?" The blonde changed the subject quickly.
"No. No way. It's reserved for Suzie's ears and Suzie's ears alone." The younger Henderson dismissed firmly. Max and Lucas shared a glance.
"Turn around, look at what you see!" They broke out, Lucas even clapping a beat. Sam snorted, moving to check the boxes where all tapped shut as her brother brought his finger back up.
"In their face, the mirror of your dreams!"
"Shut up you guys." Dustin shouted over them.
"Rhymes that keep their secrets." They ignored him.
"Stop! You guys, please. Shut up!" The Henderson boy grumbled.
"What's wrong Dusty-bun?" Lucas mocked. As the curly haired boy was to retort, Sam jumped in.
"Okay, all these boxes are tapped and labeled. How're you guys doing?" She crossed her arms sending her brother a subtle wink.
"Yeah, we're almost done." Max began organizing things in a box again. "It's just that Lucas here doesn't know how to pack anything."
"What're you talking about? This is how you pack." The Sinclair boy retaliated as he tossed a device into a already filled box.
"Sam, please help. I can't take much more of this." Max pleaded with slouched shoulders.
"Yeah, move your ass, Sinclair. I'm taking over." She nudged him out of the way, dropping down to reorganize.Standing outside of the now evacuated home, tears burned in Sam's eyes, as well as everyone else's. She sniffed back her sobs, her lip wobbling harshly.
Pulling Johnathan into a tight hug first, she tried her best not to cry. But as she pulled away, catching sight of the tears running down his cheeks, she just let it out. With a cough, her tears fell heavily. Johnny pulled her back into a hug, squeezing the breath from her lungs before he moved to say goodbye to Nancy and the others.
Sam turned, almost knocking into Will as they both tugged the other into an embrace. He was absolutely sobbing, his entire face was red.
"I love you so much, Will." Sam mumbled.
"I love you too, Sam."
"If you ever need to talk and I mean about anything, you call me, okay?" Sam pulled away, glancing over at Mike subtly as she spoke. The Byers boy caught on, nodding as he wiped the back of his hand along his cheeks. The older Henderson smiled sadly, leaning down to place a kiss to the boys head.
Turning to find Eleven, the two locked eyes and engulfed each other into a hug. El holding onto the back of her shirt desperately.
"Thank you." The Hopper girl mumbled.
"What for?" Sam pulled away slightly.
Eleven shrugged with a smile. "Everything."
"Well, thank you for stumbling upon us in the woods on that rainy day." Sam pulled her close again, placing a kiss to the top of her head. The blonde then rushed for Joyce, crying as the woman pulled her close.
"You've done so much for us, Sam. I love you so, so much." The woman sniffed.
"I love you too, Joy." Sam pulled away. "Drive safe, okay?"
"Okay."
Those staying in Hawkins stood and watched as the moving van and cars left the driveway, Max holding on to Lucas, Nancy and Mike standing distant, and Sam with her arm over Dustin's shoulders. They sniffed as their tears dried, jumping on their bikes, or skateboards, and riding away from the home with so many memories.
Sam glanced back just as they turned the corner, chewing on the inside of her cheek to stop the fresh tears from falling. So much had happened in these last two years. And it all started with a goddamn game night. But, because of all the shit that occurred, so many great things fell into place. Because at the end of the day, change was a good thing. It meant everything was playing out as it was meant to.episode fortyfour / season three finale
