KICKING HER BOARD INTO HER HAND, SAM BARLEY HAD TIME TO REGAIN HERSELF WHEN DUSTIN TUGGED HER ARM.
"Jesus, Dust. They aren't going anywhere." The blonde grumbled, situating her shirt before jogging after him.

Waiting in the line at Scoops Ahoy, Sam watch from afar as her friend handed out ice cream orders in a monotone voice.
"Hi." The curly haired boy stepped forward confidently.
"Hi." Robin glanced from him to her friend with furrowed eyebrows.
"I'm Dustin." Sam's brother introduced kindly.
"I'm Robin."
"Pleasure to meet you. Uh, is he here?" The Henderson boy glanced over her shoulder expectantly.
"Is who here?" Robin managed out before Steve burst through the back door, a bright smile on his face. Sam shrugged at her friend, climbing over the counter to judge the two from afar.
"Henderson!" Steve laughed as he bounced over. "He's back. He's back!"
"I'm back!" Dustin laughed cutely. "You got the job!"
"I got the job!" Steve imitated a trumpet horribly before the two broke out in their unnecessary long and ridiculous handshake.
"How many children are you friends with?" Robin asked once they finished, causing Sam to snort out a laugh. Steve sighed, his face falling as he looked at the two.

Sitting at an empty table, Dustin munched on a banana split while he caught up with Steve. Sam just leaned back and listened to the interaction.
"No. No. No way." Steve waved the Henderson boy off. "Hotter than Phoebe Cates? No."
"Brilliant, too." Dustin gushed. "And she doesn't even care that my real pearls are still coming in. She says kissing is better without teeth."
Steve's shock was evident on his face as he glanced to Sam for help. The blonde just shrugged as she held back her laughter.
"Wow. Yeah, that's great. Proud of you, man." Steve lied smoothly. "That's ro-That's kinda romantic. That's like...wow."
"So do you really just get to eat as much of this as you want?" Dustin motioned to the sundae. The Harrington teen shrugged nonchalantly.
"Yeah. I mean, sure. It's not really a good idea for me, so I just give you sister free stuff. You know, I gotta keep in shape for the ladies." Steve tried to gloat.
"Yeah, how's that working out for ya?" Robin piped in as she threw out some trash. Sam laughed, holding her fist out for the teen to bump.
"Ignore her." Steve didn't miss a beat.
"She seems cool." The curly haired boy shrugged with a glance to Robin.
"She is." Sam nodded fondly.
"No, she's not." Steve waved her off. "So, uh, where are the other little knuckleheads?"
Dustin sighed heavily. "They ditched me yesterday."
"No." Steve's face fell.
"My first day back. Can you believe that shit?" Dustin huffed. "The only one who stayed was Sam."
"Whoa, seriously?" Steve leaned forward in frustration.
"I swear to God." Dustin took another bite from his sundae. The Harrington man looked to Sam for help if this was true, and unfortunately she nodded her subtly.
"They're gonna regret it, though, big time, when they don't get to share my glory." Dustin started dramatically.
"Our glory." Sam corrected quickly. "I was literally there with you."
"Glory? What glory?" Steve chuckled nervously. Dustin smirked excitedly, sliding closer to Steve and lowering his voice.
"So, last night, I was trying to get into contact with Suzie..." The boy started.
"Oh. Mmm." Steve wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. Dustin laughed before glanced around the shop, making sure no one was listening in. He then whispered very quietly what he and his sister discovered.
"What?" Steve said dumbly after a beat of silence. Dustin clicked his tongue, before whispering again. Steve shook his head.
"Speak louder."
"I intercepted a secret Russian communication!" Dustin yelled childishly. Everyone turned around for a moment before going back to their own business.
"Jeez, shh. Yeah, okay, that's what I thought you said." There was a pause. "Wait, what does that mean?"
"It means, Steve, we could be heroes. True American heroes." The Henderson boy tried to convince him.
"Ah." Steve smiled brightly. "American heroes?" He scooted closer.
"Just think, you could have all the ladies you want and more."
"More?"
"More."
"Yeah, it'd be a big step up from what he's got now." Sam snickered.
"Oh, will you shut up?" Harrington kicked her foot from under the table childishly.

SITTING IN THE BACK WITH DUSTIN AND STEVE, SAM HUFFED OUT AN ANNOYED BREATH. The Harrington teen paced back and forth, eating a banana as Dust played the recording of the transmission. Once it was over, the curly haired boy clicked the tape off.
"So what do you think?" He questioned immediately.
"It sounded familiar." Steve shoved the banana into his mouth, chewing quickly.
"What?" The Henderson siblings grumbled simultaneously. Steve's voice was muffled by the food still in his mouth.
"The music." He pointed to the tape lazily. "Right there at the end." Sam rolled her eyes, leaning back in her chair and kicking her feet up on the table.
"Remind me why your listening to the music, Harrington?" The blonde quirked her eyebrow at him. "We're trying to translate the Russian."
"I'm trying to listen to the Russian, but there's music-" The brunette tried to defend himself when the door swung open.
"Alright, babysitting time is over. You need to get out there." Robin burst in, walking farther into the room before stopping by the whiteboard. "Hey, my board. That was important data, shitbirds."
"I got it committed to memory, don't worry." Sam stood up, walking around to stretch out her legs.
"I guarantee you, what we're doing is way more important than your data." Dustin countered the Buckley teen as Steve smacked the peel onto the table.
"Yeah? And how do you know these Russians are up to no good anyways?" Robin crossed her arms, moving to stand with Sam.
Dustin looked at Steve accusingly. "How does she know about the Russians?"
"I don't know." The Harrington teen shrugged quickly.
"You told her about-"
"It wasn't me."
"Hello, I can hear you." Robin cut them off. "Actually, I can hear everything. You are both extremely loud."
The boys turned to Sam for help but she just nodded in agreement. "You are very loud."
"You think you have evil Russians plotting against our country, on tape, and you're trying to translate but haven't figured out a single word because you didn't realize Russians use an entirely different alphabet. Sound about right?" The Buckley teen summarized. Dustin and Steve shared a wide eyed glance.
"Yeah, that's pretty much it." Sam praised. "Now, can we go back to my original plan and get Robin to help us? Please?"
The boys didn't answer, so the Buckley teen took it upon herself to swipe for the tape. Steve was too quick, however, and snatched it off the table before the outsider could get ahold of it.
"Whoa! What do you think you're doing?" He squinted his eyes suspiciously at his friend.
"I wanna hear it." Robin shrugged nonchalantly.
"Why?" Dustin and his older brother figure spoke simultaneously.
"Because she can help, like I said before." Sam crossed her arms, leaning her weight on one leg. "She's fluent in four languages."
"Russian?" The curly haired boy glanced from his sister to her friend hopefully.
"Ou-yay are-yay umb-day." Robin retorted, enticing a snort of laughter from the blonde. Dustin and Steve laughed in shock.
"That was pig-latin, dingus." Robin shook her head. Steve slapped the banana peel across Dustin's arm.
"Idiot." He played cool.
"But I can speak Spanish and French and Italian and I've been in band for twelve years." Robin sat down at the table quickly. "My ears are little geniuses, trust me."
"Uh..." Steve tried to come up with an excuse.
Sam huffed, sitting back down in her chair. "Come on, it's your turn to work and Robin's turn to translate."
"I'm sorry, who's side are you on?" The Harrington teen rolled his eyes at the blonde.
"The winning side." She replied with a snarky smile.
"I don't even want credit. I'm just bored." Robin cut their bickering off, holding the scooper to Steve. The teen sighed before grabbing the tool and slapping the recorder into her hand.
