Pride Parade (Pride Month special)

(Mania's POV)

I was sitting on the couch, scrolling through my phone bored. What was I looking at? Just some selfies people have been taking recently. All full of pride flags. It made me ponder about my flag, if it exists. Today was a Saturday, so no school, and it was June, so it was HOT. I wanted to stay on the couch all day, but unfortunately, my (unofficial) brothers had other plans:

"Mania!!" Daiya exclaimed out of nowhere, hugging me,

"What the!? Daiya! Where did you come from??" I asked with a baffled smile. Mondo then walked over,

"Have ya figured out where yer on with that Aro-Ace spec?" I looked over at Mondo confused. Why would he be asking that?

"Uhm..." I switched the tab on my phone to an Aromantic spectrum wiki I found,

"I've been looking."

"And?" I tapped on one called "Arospike",

"This feels the most accurate." I showed Mondo as he took my phone and read over the description,

"Sudden spikes of romantic attraction?" I nodded. Daiya then asked,

"Are there any flags for it online that you can buy?" I stared at him confused. Both of em are askin some strange questions,

"Uh... no I... don't think it's widely known." The two sighed,

"Fuck. That sucks." I then turned to Mondo completely confused as I managed to get Daiya off of me,

"Why the hell are you two askin me those questions?" Mondo chuckled and ruffled my hair,

"We were gonna head to the pride parade nearby. Taka, Chi, hell, pretty much a lot of our classmates are gonna be there!" My eyes sparkled in amazement,

"A pride parade? What's that?" The two deadpanned me,

"Mania how the fuck are you this uncultured?" Daiya asked. I huffed and shoved him,

"Hey! My old town was a shit place ok?!" I huffed annoyed before Mondo picked me up,

"You're gonna experience a pride parade. NOW."

"Bro we still gotta get ready." Daiya quickly put a pause on Mondo dragging me out of the house. Mondo sighed and put me down before the two left. I stood there in silence. I guess I'll just wait till they inevitably drag me to the parade.

"Kyodai! We're over here!" Taka called out to us as we (Mondo and Daiya, I was being carried) arrived to the group. I looked around at all of Mondo's classmates. I don't know a lot about most of them, but I could see Taka had a gay flag in his hand, Chihiro having a pansexual one, Hiro had a gay banner, Leon had a... party popper? I turned to Mondo, he had a bisexual pin on his jacket, and Daiya beside him had a genderfluid one. Mondo had put me down and hugged Taka,

"Glad you could make it too bro!" Taka blushed but smiled as he returned the hug. I watched, debating on pulling my camera out, when Chihiro approached me,

"Uhm, Mania... where's your flag?" I looked at her confused before Daiya explained,

"Oh right! So basically this is one huge pride thing! LGBTQ all that jazz. We all have our flags and whatnot to wave them around and support one another." I stared at Daiya before facepalming. I sighed and turned back to Chihiro,

"Couldn't find any online that I could buy, and I don't think I would've had enough time to make one." She nodded and returned to the group as I sighed, feeling pretty anxious in a huge crowd like this. I looked across the street and deadpanned as I saw my own classmates with their flags as well. Come on universe!!

"It's starting!! It's starting!!" Leon shouted, accidentally pulling on the popper as it exploded, confetti in the colors of the bi flag bursting out. The other stared at him as he awkwardly chuckled. Then we heard music and looked over to the crowd of people.

I'll admit... it was pretty boring. The heat was killing me and all we (the others) were doing were waving their arms and cheering. I felt pretty left out. I didn't even have a flag to wave. I looked across the street and noticed Goody two shoes had made eye contact with me. I grumbled annoyed before something suddenly fell into my hand. An arospike flag? I looked back at Goody two shoes and saw her smiling, giving me a thumbs up. She made this with magic didn't she? Huh... I guess I owe her one. I glanced over at Mondo who was just cheering with an arm wrapped around Taka. I hesitantly raised my flag into the air and started waving it.

People had looked over at me and I feared they were judging me, when they suddenly started cheering louder. My eyes went wide in confusion before I felt an arm around me,

"There ya go Mania!" Daiya exclaimed. He and Hiro were holding up the banner, "Now yer getting into the spirit!" I smiled softly and continued waving the flag. I couldn't really understand what was going on. Why were people cheering? Was it in support of LGBTQ? I mean... that's why we're all here right...?

It felt like I was gonna pass out from heat stroke by the time the parade finished. Everybody was celebrating, popping poppers and (my classmates specifically) shooting fireworks. I sighed and glanced over at my group. Everyone I didn't know/care about had calmed down, drinking a ton of water. Those I did know/care about were also calming down, Hiro and Daiya folding up the banner. Chihiro was with the unfamiliar group so I looked over at Taka and Mondo. My jaw dropped.

They were kissing. THEY WERE KISSING!!! I REPEAT, KISSING!! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!! THIS IS REAL!!!! I nearly screamed from glee that my ship had finally sailed, but managed to keep my cool as I quickly pulled out my phone and took a picture. Mondo opened an eye and glanced at me before I took off running back home. Yup I was certainly gonna pass out. But hell if it wasn't worth it!!
