(Mania's POV)

"I'm home." I spoke in a soft voice... silence greeted me in return. I sighed staring at the empty house. Dawn was almost never home. When she was, she would taunt me. She knew exactly what buttons to push. The silence was both better and worse, and I didn't know which I preferred.

I put my bag down and sighed, going to the kitchen for a snack. I scanned the cabinets and fridge before reluctantly picking nothing. Dawn was the one who bought a lot of our food. More like her food. The only times she takes me into consideration is when I cook for her. I'm basically worthless otherwise. I grumbled hungrily before heading up to my room.

School was fucking hell, as always. This time felt agonizing. That bratty bitch poked me so many times with a pencil. I tried to stay calm; I wasn't about to get in trouble. When lunch came around I went outside to eat, but that jockass came by with... that nerd. I hated seeing them, knowing the stupid ass decisions I made. I went back inside and wouldn't ya know it? That bratty bitch and her posse "reserved" a seat for me. I ignored them but they started poking me with the plastic utensils. Poke, poke, poke, I lost it. I grabbed a stool and threw it at them. They dodged and started screaming and crying that I attacked them. Guess who the teachers believed?

And now here I am. Suspended for a fucking week. This is just the worst. Hungry, tired, and angry are not a good combination. I looked at the book placed atop my desk. It was a ritual book I bought online. Full of summoning circles I could trace or just use on their own. I've only used it for practicing my ghost summoning. But I wonder... what else could I do?

I picked up the book and flipped through the pages. I looked at every symbol one by one. Then I found it,

"A demon summoning..." I spoke in a soft voice, staring at the symbol on the page. It was like the sweetest chocolate pastry in the bakery — tempting, rewarding, easy to obtain — I wanted to use it. With it I could get revenge. I... no. No I can't. It's too dangerous.

I sighed and set the book down, staring at the page silently. I took out my pocket knife and stared at it quietly before setting it next to the book, not bothering to retract the blade. A ding then came from my pocket as I sighed annoyed. Only one person texts me:

"Are you home yet?" From Dawn, "Make the steak and some mashies for me, love you! 😘"

I growled angrily and threw my phone against the wall. Even when I'm suspended all she can think about is herself!? I hate her! I hate her I hate her I hate her!! In my anger I shouted and slammed my hands onto the desk,

...! "Ack!"

I winced and took my hand away. I accidentally slammed my hand onto the knife and now I was bleeding. Just great. I groaned and held my bleeding hand before a bright light suddenly came from in front of me. My face paled as I looked at the book. My blood had gotten onto the page, right in the summoning circle. Shit...

I yelped and covered my face, but it was futile as the magic aura of the summoning knocked me off my feet. The force was like an intense wind as I just braced for whatever demon ended up before me. I shut my eyes tightly as the force slowly lessened in intensity. It was here...

...

...

"Hm? Where the fuck am I?" I heard a voice ask. I didn't move as I slowly opened my eyes. In front of me was without a doubt, a demon. Standing a few inches in front of me as he looked around. He had huge demonic wings, a long tail with a pointed triangular tip at the end, and curved horns. His appearance encompassed a golden pompadour with black hair in the back, wore a long black jacket with golden embroidery, a belt with a strange design, black sweatpants, and gray loafers. Oh and he doesn't have a shirt on. I cautiously regained my footing before the demon turned to me. We stared at each other in silence before he chuckled,

"Seriously?"

"What?" Suddenly the demon was right in front of me, his face inches from mine,

"You're the one that summoned me?" He asked. I stared at him uneasily. With demons you had a 50/50 chance to either lock them into a pact, or die. I'm pretty sure I'm taking the latter half of that. I looked at my bleeding hand before glaring at the demon,

"That was an accident." I sneered. The demon was silent as I shoved my way past him and to the door,

"An accident? No way in hell did ya accidentally summon a fucking demon." He growled,

"Well I did." I snapped back, "So go ahead and leave." I then left the room, slamming the door out of anger at myself. I can't believe I was that stupid to accidentally summon somethin. I made my way down the stairs before the door suddenly opened. I froze as Dawn walked in,

"I'm hoooome~" she sang before looking at me,

"Well now ain't this strange. Why aren't you cooking?" She asked with a snide grin. I scoffed and looked away,

"I was busy."

"Busy being suspended?" Dawn asked. I flinched... shit.

"Of course I heard about it Mania. I always answer the calls the school gives!" She taunted before I growled,

"Shut up."

"Why? I gotta scold you for starting that fight." She responded. I clenched my fists and silently made my way to the kitchen. Dawn suddenly grabbed my arm,

"Don't walk away Mania." She said in a low voice. I froze as she smiled,

"Good girl. You should've known better than to throw a stool at those poor girls unprovoked."

"But I-!"

"I'm talking." My lips quivered as Dawn continued,

"Everyone already knows you're a violent little monster. I mean what with—"

"Don't bring her up again!!" I snapped at Dawn with a growl. Dawn looked at me shocked before her expression turned into anger.

"Don't talk back to your sister like that." She said as she raised her hand. I recoiled and shut my eyes, bracing for the impact...

...

But it never came...? I hesitantly opened one eye before both snapped open at the sudden sight.

The demon I had accidentally summoned had caught Dawn's wrist. He had an intensely tough grip as Dawn struggled to yank her hand back,

"Don't fucking touch her." The demon said with a growl, letting Dawn go. Dawn stared at the demon annoyed before scoffing at me,

"You're willing to stoop so low, Mania. Summoning a demon? I thought better of y—" the demon's wings suddenly opened up, obscuring Dawn from my view and vice versa,

"Shut the fuck up. I'm only saying this once." The demon leaned towards Dawn as his voice turned from angry to malicious,

"Leave this house, and never fucking return. And if I find out you put a hand on her... I'll fucking tear you apart." I stood there stunned as Dawn turned around and briskly left the house. I could feel my legs shaking before I ended up collapsing. The rollercoaster of emotions going through me were a lot,

"You ok kid? She didn't hurt ya did she?" The demon asked, crouching down to my height. I stared at him silently before asking,

"W-Why did you stay?" The demon tilted his head before shrugging,

"Eh, I... just got lazy." He then looked at me, "Sides, it looks like yer gonna need my help."

"What?"

"Don't act like I didn't just defend ya from that bitch." The demon scoffed, "Sounds like ya don't have a good life. So for now, I'm gonna stick around until you can get outta this hellhole, got it?" I stared at the demon stunned before nodding,

"O-Ok..." he then stood up and offered his hand to me. I took it as he pulled me up,

"Name's Mondo Owada. You?" He introduced himself, his wings folding back,

"Mania Deirdre..." I replied with a slight smile. Maybe this accidental summon won't be too bad.
