*BOOM*

(Mondo's POV)

Fuck, I knew it was gonna be a bad storm but I didn't know it was gonna be this bad. The power might end up goin out. Daiya was in his room sleeping as I watched tv. The lightning was pretty damn bright too. I grabbed my phone from the table and sent a text to the group chat Chi made with me, Taka, and Mania,

"You three doin ok?" Taka responded almost immediately,

"Thank you for worrying, Kyodai! I am fine at the moment. I am currently working on my homework!" I let out a soft chuckle at my bro's dorkiness. Chi then texted the group,

"The thunder keeps startling me... but I'll be ok! Headphones going on tonight 😜" I hummed at Chi's text. Poor dude. I stared at my phone for a few more minutes, and something was not right. Mania hadn't replied. She usually replies at the same time as Chihiro, maybe later if she's doing something, like cooking. Though it was like... 8 pm or something, so she had to be in her room. I sent another text,

"Mania? Ya doin ok?" I could see Taka and Chi both read the text, but Mania hadn't. Did her phone die or some shit?

(Mania's POV)

I flinched hard and yelped once the thunder exploded. I was shaking uncontrollably and hiding under my bed like a child. I never told anyone... but I am terrified of thunderstorms. The sounds and lights give me bad PTSD. I was gripping the back of my neck as I heard something familiar... a text alert? I couldn't bring myself to investigate as I was too scared. However another ping came from my phone as I sucked in a breath. I'm not scared... I'm not scared...

I let out a pained whine as I forced myself to reach for my phone on top of the bedside table. The lightning flashed through my window as the image of rubble appeared in my head. My breath hitched in fear as I snatched my phone quickly, retreating to the safety of under my bed again. I held the phone close to my chest and heard another ping. I then hesitantly lifted the phone to my face to see what was going on,

"Mania? Ya doin ok?" - Mondo

"She might be asleep, Kyodai." - Taka

"No way. Not in this storm." - Mondo

They're worried... I'm glad they're worried... it made me feel safe. But I was still scared. Do I tell them? No, even if I did, it's not like they'd be able to help at all... a-and I might cause them to... no. No no no. They can't know. I sent the group a text:

"I'm fine, I was just checking on the *BOOM* browka" dammit. Dammit FUCK! Fuck you thunder!! You made me typo!! Now they're probably even more concerned!!

"Uh... the what?" Chihiro texted. I sighed shakily and replied,

"Sorry, wasn't expecting the thunder. Was checking on the breaker." Nobody did a thing for a minute or two. Did they call it a day? Mondo then suddenly asked,

"Why would you check on the breaker? Is the power out at yer house?" My breath hitched. If he's asking that he might know that I'm lying... I then typed out,

"No just making sure it wasn't" before a sudden call signal played. Someone in the group chat initiated a group call...!? I was in the middle of texting so I didn't realize it right away, and had clicked accept. I immediately dropped the phone and shuffled back, keeping my hands securely over my mouth so no sound would be heard. Please, please let it have been just a mistake...
