The brush crunches softly under my shoes as we walk through the little bunch of trees. One of the neighboring houses had a bunch of trees growing in the back yard, trees just high enough to be taller then the two story buildings. Bjorn walks in front of me slightly, all the way to the edge of the tree line, and stands behind one before pulling out the camera. This angle isn't great, but we are able to see up closer.
"If you were starting a new relationship with those men, would they let you come back out to this?" Bjorn asks in a whisper and it catches me off guard.
"What?" I ask and shake my head. "Why wouldn't they? I was brought in as a fighter."
"That was before feelings got involved." Bjorn says holding the camera up. "When we go back they will realize you aren't dead. They will realize they had almost lost you, would they want you to come out somewhere where that might happen all over again?"
I wanted to say yes they would let me out again. But would they really? I can see some of them fighting to keep me in the safety of the community. Some might agree to let me out within time, but would they let me come back right away for this?
"Your pushing hard to do this just the two of us." I tell him and he shrugs one shoulder.
"I can admit that having a few extra people who know how to use guns would be a huge help." He says still taking a few photos. "But I'm not good with being bossed around, I know what I'm doing and they wont understand that."
I had nothing to say to that so I bring up my binos to look out at the compound. Bonfires had been lit, men were taking pot shots at zombies that amble their way to them and it looked like everyone in the center was having a party. Except for the women, of all ages. I felt sick to my stomach seeing how some of the men handle those girls, and it made me more excited to hit this place.
Letting out a low frustrated sound when I see a girl get hit I tell Bjorn. "To bad we can't just have Brandy send people up now. Early morning would be a perfect time to hit this place, when all the assholes are passed out from partying."
A moment passes and I drop my binos, having seen enough. Bjorn turns off his camera leaving us in the dark he asks. "Did you see if they had any military grade laptops?"
"Yes." I know Wyatt had one, and I've seen one in the armory with Tyler, what he used it for I have no idea.
"I have one in the car, if they have theirs on I can send them a message."
My mouth gaps open at him, I didn't know if he could make out my features in this dark, so I hit his arm. "You didn't tell me that earlier? Jesus. I'll get the laptop, you keep taking pictures on the way there."

The pencil in my hand breaks in half with a loud snapping sound that startles me out of my thoughts. I drop the pieces of it onto the desk and let out a long sigh, unclenching my teeth in the process. While Adam had gone to bed, I decided to stay up for awhile longer, like I had for the past few days. I couldn't fall asleep without thinking of her in some way, feeling her small body pressed against mine or smelling her hair. Only to wake up to a cold spot in my bed. Such a short time I had with her but I can't stop thinking, because there was hope. But as every day passes, that hope gets smaller and smaller. Even if she lived through the bite, she still had the option of running. She had nothing to remind her, to drag her back. She had options.
