Natalie

After a short time with Sarah and Casey, who show me some of the new things in camp Micah finds me. With the baby now in a car seat Micah takes him for me and leads me to the office. I know I could leave the baby with Becca or one of the other teachers, but I just can't seem to let him out of my sight. At least for now. Casey at least helped me change the diaper and feed him, so now he's sleeping heavily tucked in all of the blankets.

Mato and Adam are in the office when we get there, the car seat is set on the floor near a chair and I sit down. Adam looks to the two men. "I want to have a conversation with just Natalie, you two can stay as long as you don't speak unless I ask for your opinions."

It seems a little harsh and I frown at Adam, who then turns to me. "I am glad you are okay." The softening of his eyes makes me believe he is being sincere. "But while you were gone, I had some time to think. Fernando was a very bad man, one a work friend of mine was tasked to watch."

Hearing his name makes my stomach clench up. The memory's of being there.. they weren't good. And I'd hate to know what his friend had seen, I feel like I'm about to be told about it though. "Just before Fernando was killed my friend said he saw and heard about something though. He heard Fernando talk about a girl, one that would marry his son and run the business."

I didn't think my stomach could clench anymore, but it did.

"Fernando talked pretty openly when he went out my friend said, he over heard a lot." Adam says and I let out a snort. Because of course Fernando did, he was a cocky bastard. "My friend got the impression Fernando didn't trust his son with running anything, so tell me. Were you just trained to be a enforcer, or was there more?"

I know he can tell I'm very unhappy at this question. I never wanted anyone to know just exactly what Fernando had planned for me, because I would have never done it. With Adam watching me, I felt like this was a moment. To tell the truth and just get it out there, then ask to never bring it up. Or to lie. I don't think the lie would work though. Fucks sake. "I didn't know until the very end that that's that he had planned for me. I had always been told that I would be a head enforcer, not the women calling all the shots behind a idiot man. I should have seen it though, the way he made me take a bunch of different classes. How he made me go to deals and meetings with him then asked me questions after like a pop quiz. He wanted me to run the cartel and make his son look good."

Adam nods and then motions to the desk. "What do you think about this."

I look down to see the map, its folded just so its mostly the overhead of the community we had just left. "What do I think? What do you want to know?"

"Just what do you think." Adam says not giving me much to go off of.

"I mean, it could be a great spot for a settlement. I saw a utility building right next to the wall but I don't know what it is used for exactly or how many houses its for. There's a lot of room for growth, there's a lot of blind spot in how the wall is set up now." I give him a shrug. "There's supply's already there, security is the biggest issue so the wall would be the first priority. Setting up scaffolding for look outs around the wall, having a rotation of people on guard. Even if its just civilians, they could at least yell out a warning if something was coming."

"What else?" Adam asks leaning forward to look over the map. "What else would you do?"

Looking down I see where Bjorn had drawn on some houses and chunks of the wall. It looked like one of my maps. I grab a red pen from the cup near us and I begin. "There's a barn here, and then a large building that I think is a animal selling thing. Where they sell horses or cattle maybe. Its not far from houses here." I draw it in where I roughly remember it. "Then there's fenced off area that looked like it was for animals to graze or run around."
