DISCLAIMER: AS TOLD EARLIER, THE CHAPTERS IN THIS SHORT STORY WILL BE SHORT COMPARED TO OTHER STORIES.

Another week passed and this one has been quite hollow, her orders and collections in ALORA were increasing and she was coming home late past 11 PM every night and is going into her room. Raghav was growing weirdly restless, as much he got habituated to seeing her in the morning, he feels empty as the day comes to an end. He himself has no explanation for this, he pours a couple of pegs of whiskey and downs them so that he can sleep in peace but lately the anxiety is taking charge not letting the alcohol do its job.

He was in the car, going home; the car also felt too empty and the silence was deafening, he was not even alone in the car, Farhad was still driving the car and he is feeling very empty and lonely. It was not the guilt or the grief about losing his father or totally losing his mother and sister, a new wave of loneliness is freshly washing over him. He looked at his watch to see the clock ticking 9:25 PM and as the car reached a halt he entered the mansion with the coat on his shoulder.

He slumped on the sofa and Rajan brought some water in a tray and handed it over to Raghav.

R: Pallavi kaha hai?

Ra: sir, Madam abhi tak ghar nahi aayi

R: theek hai, tu jaa

Two things he realized are, one - he never called her by her name, and in 15 days of his so-called marriage, neither she called him by his name. Two - the staff of the house calling her "madam" felt weirdly satisfying to him. He loosened the buttons of his waistcoat as he made his way into his bedroom. He freshened up and wore his night robe and came to the dining, it never felt so weird as for the first time he feels his life is just monotonous where he is either working or eating or sleeping. The staff started to serve him food while he could feel his eating was getting heavy. He is not able to swallow like he used to, an unknown void is forming a lump in his throat, he calmed down as he took a deep breath and chewed on his food. He succeeded in finishing his dinner and he saw the time, the clock was ticking at 10:45 PM. She was still not home, he unlocked his phone and scrolled through his contacts only to realize he doesn't have her number. He paced through the rooms, he went into his den and thought of finishing some incomplete work, he opened a velvet cloth which had a necklace ready to be studded with a huge Sapphire in the center. As he started working on it, he could feel his fingertips shivering as he put the stone in the center. He never felt like that before, his anxiety started to take a toll again. He wrapped up the jewelry and pushed it into the drawer.

He went to the bar and poured a peg of whiskey for himself when the smell of maggie wafted into the bar, he frowned and made his way into the kitchen only to see an empty Kadai in the sink. He then made his way to the guest room to check on her, and if she came home, as he walked he saw that the clock stuck at 11:11 PM.

As he entered the room, he saw a petite figure in her blush pink pajamas, her hair open and a scrunchie on her wrist. She held the bowl of piping hot maggie in her palm and brought it to her face to smell the aroma of fresh maggie, she brought her legs up on the couch beside the window and she brushed her hair behind her ear with her fingertips. His eyes glassed up at the sight in front of him, he swallowed a lump in his throat when he wanted to leave the room but the door creaked making her look up at the entrance.

They both were caught in an eye lock and for a second she could see him panic, he doesn't have to panic? Does he?

R: Wo main bas ye dekhne aaya tha ki tum ghar aayi ya nahi?

P: aao na? (patting on the side of her couch)

Normally, he would've denied but it's been a decade since someone calls him to sit beside them. He hesitantly made his way towards her and sits at a comfortable distance from her. She offers him the bowl of maggie,

He nods in a no

P: one bite, please?

He couldn't deny, normally for The Raghav Rao, it's poison because it contains unhealthy maida but his heart is not able to deny it. He sees her hopefully waiting for him to take a bite.

He finally digs the fork in the bowl of maggie spinning a fork full and putting it in his mouth. Reality hits him like a brick, he couldn't make her eat a spoonful of food in the mansion which had cooking staff who make full meals thrice a day. And she offered a spoonful of maggie from her tiny bowl. He couldn't stay anymore, he could feel his chin quiver and his heart stung in pain.

R: tum khaao, main chalta hu

Pallavi nodded and he made his way out of the room, as he reached the dining, he saw that the food was there and it was cold. So she decided to make herself something satiating.

He reached his bedroom blinking back the tears which were threatening to spill out of his eyes. He wrapped his duvet and fell asleep.

The next morning he saw her coming near the dining, as usual, it had been a ritual now for Farhad to wish her and have a banter with her and Raghav to look like a wannabe idiot who wants to be a part of the conversation and is having a major #FOMO every single day but thankfully as it is Farhad, he can see her and hear her voice, see her actively going to her work.

F: good morning bhabhi!

P: good morning Farhad!

F: wo, aapko raat ko driver hi pick kar raha hai na?

F: wo, aapko raat ko driver hi pick kar raha hai na?

P: haa, nahi toh tum usse maar nahi daaloge? (she said with her tongue in cheek trying to hide her smile)

F: matlab?

P: matlab, main agar usse bol bhi du ki wo ghar chala jaye, wo jaata nahi hai... der raat tak rukta hai aur mujhe pick up karke hi ghar laata hai, itna darta hai tumse.

"Farhad sir maar daalenge madam" bolta rehta hai

F: haa toh wo uski duty hai bhabhi! Ek kaam hai, usme bhi aap usse jaane dogi toh kaise?

P: toh kisi bachelor ko lena tha! Uski biwi usse chodd degi na, teri wajah se hogi.

F: bhabhi kya bol rahi hai kuch bhi (chuckling)

P: chalo ab main chalti hu.

F: aap kahi aur jaa rahi hai? (referring to her outfit)

P: nahi, aaj bohot bada deal hai ek client ke saath, isiliye!

They bid goodbye to each other and as usual, Raghav was eating like a stupid for the past 15 days every day at the same time.

R: Farhad, bhabhi ko 7:30 tak shaam ko call karke pucho ki unko late hoga ya nahi, agar nahi hoga toh theek hai. But agar late hoga toh 8 baje tak garma garam khaane ki carriage pohonch jaana chahiye.

F: ji anna
