I heard the door squeak open and crossed my fingers, hoping Alex was smart enough to hatch a plan and pretend he was coming out of the bathroom or something. Quickly, I began shimmying out of my dress, pulling on a pair of shorts and an oversized t-shirt that was so big it made it look like I wasn't wearing any pants. I waited in my room, pressing my ear to the door to see if I could hear Brian and Alex talking. It sounded like they were far enough away to be downstairs, so I opened the door to my room and tried to walk downstairs as casually as I could.

When I came downstairs I saw Brian and Alex sitting on the couch, and Brian didn't seem to look like he thought something was going on. I let out a sigh of relief and Brian lifted his head, noticing I was in the room now too.

"Hey kid, how was your date?" Brian chuckled, scooting over on the couch to make room for me.

I shot him a look, growing real tired of him using the nickname I hated so much. "Not good enough for a second one," I chuckled. Brian asked for an explanation and Alex nodded along with this request, trying to appear naive to the story I was about to tell. I launched into my explanation about how Jake had made me super uncomfortable and nervous, then quickly attempted to gloss over the part where he wanted to use me for sex and then insisted on a second date.

Of course this didn't work and being a protective older brother, Brian caught on to exactly what I was saying. He wasn't happy about it, but I told him it was fine, and I had survived. I really didn't wanna sit there and discuss my sex life with my older brother, not to mention his best friend who wanted to be a part of my sex life.

I was upset, but I couldn't really show it, because I had also gained things to be happy about. Obviously I was disappointed in Jake and I was really hoping we would hit it off, but what he did caused Alex to show himself to me, and now I didn't have to run from him. Brian still decided that I needed ice-cream, and despite all of my protesting I eventually agreed to either put on longer pants of a shorter shirt and meet him in the car.

With my makeup still intact from the earlier events of the night, I decided I might as well dress in something presentable, so I kicked my shorts into the same heap I had left my dress in; and exchanged them for a pair of high-wasted shorts and a black tank top with the words 'Anywhere but here' printed on it.

Arriving outside at Brian's idling car, I was pleased to see that the passenger seat was wide open. "I figured you deserved to ride shotgun," Alex winked. I explained that I always ride shotgun, but thanked him for his hospitality anyway. Brian pulled out of the driveway and before I could think of a way to make pleasant conversation, had pulled into the parking lot of 'Sundae School', the local ice cream shop.

Surprisingly, the place was littered with college students and older high-schoolers. One wouldn't think that an ice cream shop would be chosen as a cool place to hang out; but something about the neon lights and black picnic tables made it feel like a club that served sweets instead of shots.

Brian stepped out of the car, slamming the door behind him and I was about to do the same when I saw Alex, who had already left the car as well, reaching for the handle of my door. I thanked him with a smile but when I stepped out of the car I realized that the entire event had been a huge mistake.

Brian cocked his head, giving Alex a look. Alex tried to shrug it off, "Well you obviously weren't gonna it."

"That doesn't mean you have to," Brian said slowly, as if he knew something was up.

Alex rolled his eyes, "Look dude, excuse me for trying to being a gentlemen." He tried to play everything off like a joke but I shot him a look anyway. We needed to be more careful about how we acted around one another. If we couldn't keep it together before we went on a date; there's was no way we could hide anything after.
