"Blaire I can't keep doing this," Alex sighed. "I can't keep hiding this from Brian. I hate it." We were standing in my room, Brian was downstairs with Jenn, waiting on Lynn and Alexa to return to the house with beer to celebrate Pvris' first big show. We had planned to party right after the show, but everyone was so spent that we decided to put it off 'till the next night.
"Alex, I hate lying just as much as you do. After all, this is my brother we're lying to," I didn't want to stay upstairs too long and have Brian get suspicious; but I needed to make sure Alex didn't decide to blow our cover.
"That's not it though. I don't wanna have to keep pretending we're not together. I wanna hold your hand, and kiss you in public. I wanna be able to come here and wrap my arms around you right in front of Brian." He took a step forward, taking hold of my waist. "When that girl asked who you were last night I wanted to say 'That's my girl.' I wanted to say 'That's my girl.' so bad."
"I am your girl, but no one can know that," I kissed his cheek softly. "Not yet. I wanna tell Brian, but the time isn't right."
"I'm just lucky to have you," Alex mumbled, bringing my face to his and kissing me roughly. "But I want everyone to see how lucky I am." Alex let his hand slip under my shirt, his fingers lazily drawing patterns on my hips. He continued to kiss me, biting my bottom lip softly.
"We have to stop, we're gonna get caught," I sighed, pulling away. "Alex please don't say anything yet."
Alex ran his fingers through his hair nervously. "I won't, I just wanna tell him soon, please," he begged.
I understood where he was coming from, every time I had to deny that anything was going on between Alex and I, I felt terrible for lying. The guilt was starting to eat away at me, but there were so many things I needed to protect. I didn't wanna risk losing Alex but I really didn't wanna ruin my relationship with Brian, or Alex's relationship with Brian; and if I did anything to hurt the band I would never forgive myself. "We will, soon, but we gotta make sure we time it right," I gave his hand a squeeze. "Come on, you can't be up here for too long. Go downstairs and I'll meet you there." Alex gave me one last kiss before turning out of my room and heading downstairs.
Alex was probably going to give Brian the typical 'I was in the bathroom and got distracted on my phone' excuse when he got back to the living room; so I quickly changed into a black skater skirt and a white t-shirt so I could use the 'I wanted to change but couldn't decide what to wear' excuse.
I came into the living room to find that Alexa and Lynn had returned with the beer and the boys had already started opening it and passing it around. There was a seat open next to Alex, but nowhere else; and I wasn't sure whether I should sit next to Alex or tell someone to move over. I saw Alex pat the spot next to him and offer me a beer but as I accepted the drink and went to sit down, I felt Brian tug on my arm.
"Come on Blaire, I wanna sit with my sister," he gave me a fake whine and moved over on the couch; motioning for me to squeeze in between him and Alex. "Alex don't even think about it," he gave Alex a glare but he didn't seem too angry. Brian was acting slightly suspicious but not any more than usual, and technically he'd let me sit with Alex, so I wasn't sure where his head was at. I decided to just let it ride and try to actually enjoy my night celebrating the success of my wonderful friends.
Everyone started drinking and began to loosen up; myself and Brian included. Alexa decided that we needed to make the celebration a little more exciting and she went over to the stereo, quickly filling our living room with upbeat dance music. Brian pulled Jenn up from the couch and started to dance with her around the living room. Alexa and Lynn began to sway together as well and Alex stood up, extending his hand towards me. "May I have this dance?" he asked. Adding, "AS FRIENDS!" quite loudly to appease Brian. Brian rolled his eyes as Lynn began slapping her knees at what she thought was Alex telling a joke. Tired of being paranoid I stood and joined Alex behind the coffee table, bouncing and dancing to the music. Distracted by Jenn and the growing amount of alcohol in his body, Brian barely seemed to be paying attention to me. "Here," Alex handed me another beer. "Loosen up."
I took the bottle from him, bringing it to my lips. I took a few sips and set the drink back down on the table. "I'm so proud of you, you know that?" I danced my way closer to Alex, shrinking the space in between us.
"I've heard you say it once or twice," a smirk spread across his lips as he took hold of my waist.
"Hey, don't get too handsy over there Babinski," Brian called; but he was laughing so we didn't worry about it too much.
Alexa looked as us dancing together, still afraid to get too close to each other. "Damn," she laughed. "Brian is the worst wingman ever. Dude, just let Alex get some."
Laughing, Alex pretended to grind on me and everyone drunkenly doubled over. We continued to dance until everyone grew tired and began to sink back down into the couch. Lynn's head was on Alexa's shoulder and Jenn was sitting in Brian's lap. Alex and I tried to remain an unsuspicious distance from each other but eventually affection got the best of us and my head ended up in Alex's lap, his fingers lazily tangled in my hair.
Occasionally bringing up memories from last nights show, the six of us shifted around, trying to find more comfortable positions. Brian and Jenn ended up on the couch, Lynn and Alexa tangled in the armchair and Alex and I with our backs to each other on the floor.
"You know what was the funniest part of that whole night?" Lynn mumbled. "When that girl thought Blaire was Alex's girlfriend."
Alexa giggled, "I'm sure he didn't mind the assumption. We all know he wants some of that." Alexa slurred some of her words, an obvious sign that she was just as intoxicated as the rest of us.
"I mean we all know Blaire is a very beautiful girl, but I didn't wanna start rumors about the band already," Alex laughed nervously.
"Yeah alright, rumors," Lynn joked.
"Oh just go to sleep," I rolled my eyes, even though they couldn't see me.
"Fine, good night," they said in unison.
"Good night Alexa, good night Lynn. Good night Brian, good night Jenn." Jenn mumbled a goodnight and Brian managed to whisper a 'Good night kid'. "Good night Alex," I reached for his hand in the dark and gave it a quick squeeze.
"Good night babe," Alex whispered.
I heard Brian squirm on the couch, "I'm sorry what was that?" he blurted.
"I said good night Blaire," Alex lied. "Take your drunk, paranoid ass and go to sleep."
Brian sighed, "Fair enough. But I'm watching you Babinski."
