After dinner Lyra moved through Rivendell as she had each time she came here with Thranduil. She found the fountain she used to sit at and think, but the fountain was overrun by naked dwarves. She saw things on the dwarves that she had hoped she never had to see. As her eyes swept over the scene she saw Thorin sitting off to the side of the fountain by himself his eyes closed and his head leaned back. She stared at him for a moment then shook her head and looked away from him.
"Lyra!" a voice whispered, making Lyra jump and squeal. A hand grabbed her arm and dragged her away, before the dwarves found her staring.
"What in Merlin's name is going on?!" Lyra hissed as her eyes adjusted to find Arwen in front of her.
"What were you doing back there?" she whispered with a knowing look on her face.
"Only seeing things that will give me nightmares for years to come." Lyra sighed, as she tried to put the image out of her head. "Is something wrong?"
"I think I know what your tattoo means." she whispered, "Your tattoo means that you have found your soulmate. And it will only grow more."
"How could I have found my soulmate? I don't even-" Lyra started, but then stopped midway. She thought back to earlier today when they arrived to Rivendell and the way it felt when Thorin touched her hand and when he pushed her to the middle to the circle when he thought the Elves would attack them.
"What is it?" Arwen questioned, her brow furrowed.
"I have to go." Lyra whispered, moving out from behind the pillar they had been standing behind, and moved down the corridor away from the dwarves that bathed in the fountain. Away from Thorin.

The dwarves in their guest rooms are throwing stuff around and burning their furniture. Bofur sees his brother, Bombur sitting up there.
"Bombur." Bofur tosses the food into Bombur, causing the table to break underneath them. Everyone laughs.
Bilbo on the other hand is walking around Rivendell. His mind on the current adventure ahead and the danger that looms before them.
"Of course I was going to tell you. I was waiting for this very chance." Bilbo hears Gandalf say as he approaches some steps. "And really, I think you can trust that I know what I am doing."
"Do you? That dragon has slept for 60 years. What will happen if your plan should fail, if you wake that beast?" Elrond fired back.
"What if we succeed? If the Dwarves take back the mountain our defenses in the east will be strengthened." Gandalf explained.
"It is a dangerous move, Gandalf." Elrond sighed. Bilbo looks to see Thorin behind him. However, the dwarf king looks at him, that just tells him to listen and not say another word. They continue listening.
"It is also dangerous to do nothing. Oh, come, the throne of Erebor is Thorin's birthright. What is it you fear?" Gandalf questioned.
"Have you forgotten? A strain of madness runs deep in that family. His grandfather lost his mind. His father succumbed to the same sickness. Can you swear Thorin Oakenshield will not also fall?" Elrond questioned. As Gandalf speaks, Thorin looks troubled as Bilbo looks at them with an understanding of Thorin more than he ever did. "Gandalf, these decisions do not rest with us alone. It is not up to you or me to redraw the map of Middle-earth."
