Three days and there was nothing.
No text, no conversation, no glance. Not even a polite "good morning" at all. Kazuichi's silence ever since he'd left was just making Gundham more and more upset. It was like the time they'd spent together meant nothing to him. It was getting t the point where the breeder so badly wanted to pull Kazuichi aside and tell him how much he missed having him around. The mechanic couldn't possibly be the type to view everything they'd done as meaningless!
Unfortunately, it seemed he had no time to dwell on it. After all, he had been requested to write a eulogy for Sonia's service. Even if her body was no longer in Japan, the class still wished to honour her and he understood that. He'd been working on the speech all week. He'd never actually had to write anything like that before so a lot of his time was spent reading examples. And when it came down to it, he wasn't sure just how honest his words were. Gundham had numbed himself to what he'd done to the princess and forced himself to completely forget what he'd felt towards her, if anything at all. She was just another face now. Another obstacle in the way of him and his beloved. He couldn't even register how wrong that truly was, too focused on his dream of holding the mechanic once more.
The problem was, it felt like Kazuichi no longer wanted anything to do with him. Even after the two of them had sex, he just...went silent on him. He didn't plan to talk to him at the service, that is unless the mechanic needed his support (god he hoped). He tried his best not to stare at him, though wasn't sure if he'd failed or not. Kazuichi just looked so good in a suit..."You'll tell me if you need to leave early, right?" Fuyuhiko checked in with Kazuichi again as he walked with him to the building. He knew the mechanic most definitely wouldn't be okay having to hear about Sonia's death all over again. So, he was willing to support him as he so needed. Perhaps it would make up for avoiding him.
Kazuichi raised a brow as he spoke, before giving him a weak smile in response. "I'm sure I'll be fine." That was lie; he knew damn well he was probably going to start bawling as the memorial went on. But he didn't want to seem weak, nor did he want to worry the other whatsoever. They had taken their seat in the crowd, glancing up to see Gundham standing at the front, waiting to present the eulogy. Kazuichi hated seeing him, but he had to put all his feelings toward him aside right now, just to commemorate Sonia. He took a deep breath to calm himself and watched as the ceremony started.Kazuichi lasted only a short while, trying to contain the occasional tears that fell down his cheeks and fiddling with his fingers as some kind of distraction. Alas, once it was Gundham's turn to speak, he simply lost himself. He was trying his hardest not to break down right then and there, but he just couldn't compose himself. He tapped on Fuyuhiko's shoulder, informing him that he was just going to leave for a moment. He didn't expect any support or for him to come with him, but he had told him to let him know if he needed to leave, so he was doing exactly that. Kazuichi quickly got out of his seat, rushing out of the main area and toward a bathroom to hide in and allow himself to just sob. He choked on his tears, he just missed her so damn much. He didn't understand why any of this happened. This wasn't fair.
Fuyuhiko wasn't exactly the best at comforting people.
He felt bad getting up in the middle of a memorial service, but he wasn't just going to let Kazuichi run off like that. He may not know how to deal with someone crying, but he at least had the sense not to just leave it be. Fuyuhiko tried to follow him out, but with both the small crowd and his short legs, he had lost track of Kazuichi quite quickly. He didn't want to just leave his friend, but he was also feeling guilty about not paying his respects to Sonia. He stood there for a moment, cursing himself under his breath before pulling out his phone. He texted Kazuichi, telling him to let him know if he wanted to be taken home or if he'd wanted to stay for the reception. Fuyuhiko wanted to be there for him, he truly did, but he never quite knew what to do. He'd freeze every time Kazuichi went to hug him and felt very awkward whenever someone began crying. But he hoped that the text was at least a little helpful as he quietly took his seat once more.
