molly's pov:

to be totally clear, you had zero idea what any of these funny words meant or which number you wanted to get on the dice but you were doing your best to pretend and it seemed like it was working. you watched at people groaned and celebrated, smiling.

you weren't sure if it was the weed or whatever but you were feeling inspirational - sentimental almost.

it was adorable how eddie and his  little friends came here everyone week or so to play a board game and how into it they got was unreal. you thought back to last year when your friends would play basketball. well, loads of sports really but basketball was a favourite.

you remembered the looks on their faces and to be honest, it was no different to the look on these geeks faces. i guess we're not all as different as we believe.

"timeout, timeout!" one of the members of the hellfire club desperately yelled, making a 'T' shape with his hands.

unclear for the cause of this timeout, you look around. it seemed your team weren't doing as well as you thought. you saw eddie's face, disappointed but he held an 'i told you so' look.

as the boys - and lady applejack - discussed their action plan, you nodded and agreed to whatever they were saying. then dustin looked to you, "well, what do you think, molly?" his face looked as if he knew you weren't really paying attention and he seemed annoyed at you for that.

"uh." you said quietly. "i agree with you dustin. to the death and all, you know?"

at this, he smiled. you sighed in relief. that was before, eddie got everyone's attention. you all turned to face him.

"if i may interject gentlemen, ladies." eddie winked at you discreetly. "whilst i respect the passion you'd be wise to take gareth the great's concern to heart. there is no shame in running. don't try to be heroes. not today, okay?"

his know-it-all tone pissed you off. you and the other members turned around once more and huddled. "how many hit points do you and molly have left?" dustin asked.

unsure, you let erica answer. "twelve..."

a silence passed. "it'd be risky as hell but you're the ones on the battlefield. it's your call." mike responded. you and erica looked at each other.

"what do you say, molly?"

"screw it. let's kill this son of a bitch." you grinned at her, shyly.

she responded with a smile back. you were starting to like this girl. especially after the way she stood eddie up after he called her a level one dwarf. icon.

you all turned around back to face eddie. almost all of your hearts in your throats. eddie looked at you first, smirking and then looked at the rest of the group. he was keen to know what you'd decided.

"the chances-" one of the boys began.

however, dustin jumped in. "never tell them the odds!" he argued.

"-twenty-to-one." the boy had already finished with a guilty look on his face.

you raised your eyebrows. did you pick the right choice? you hadn't time to think before erica spoke. "give me the d20." oh, you knew this one. that's the dice with 20 sides, right? eddie passed a small ball over to erica.

she shook it in her hand for quite a while before releasing it onto the table, her fingers crossed as it rolled and rolled and rolled some more. you weren't sure what number you wanted so you just waited behind the others as they leant over the table awkwardly. then, you looked at eddie.

he mouthed the word, 'twenty' to you and it took you a second to realise what he meant. your eyes brightened and you smiled at him. he smiled back just as you moved to lean over at the same weird angle as everyone else.

suddenly, the dice stopped. number 13...

eddie burst out loudly, "it's a miss." shaking his head wildly, making his hair go funny. you couldn't help but hide a smile.

the boys, and erica, rushed you forward to the front of the table. the d20 was shoved into your palm and you realised it was your turn. nervously, you breathed and shook the dice in your hands. the boys around you yelling in plea for it to land on that one number. exhaling deeply, you let go.

it rolled, rolled and rolled some more just like last time.

finally it stopped. you leant over, reading the number twice - having to check you weren't seeing things. your voice came out lucidly, "twenty..."

you looked up at eddie, he pulled himself back, hands to his chest. "what.. what?" he spoke in disbelief before clapping his hands and leaning over, smiling. "that's how you play!" he shouted and stood up, watching the boys around you celebrating.

you stood there, your hands to your mouth, surprised. eddie looked at you and bowed, slowly. his eyes on yours in an almost intimate way. you brought your hands down and curtseyed back.
