"Great. This is just great. We're still stuck in this stupid cave and we don't even know how close the exit is!" "Well, it can't be too far off. This is a tourist attraction, is it not?" "Yes but I get the feeling it's for more advanced tourists. And not for people like me." "You've made it this far." I sighed in frustration. "Yeah I guess." "Hey. We're gonna make it out of here, alright? I might not be as resilient as Jake but that doesn't mean I'm not confident. We got this. You and me. We're a team. And we're determined. Nothing will get in our way! Right?" I broke into a smile. Steven could cheer me up so easily. "Right. Although I wish I had your confidence." Steven grinned. "Nonsense. You've got plenty. Now onward! We shall conquer this cave! We'll show it who's in charge! Steven Grant and y/n l/n!" Steven then started moving forward through the water. I shook my head and began following him. It wasn't long before we reached a dead end. There was nothing but the cave walls and a waterfall pouring down on us. "What do we do now?!" "We keep going!" "How?! We're at a dead end!" "You saw! There was no other way to go! This has to be the right way!" Steven looked around. He watched where the waterfall landed. He pointed at it. "There! Maybe we have to go underwater and we'll enter another room!" "What?!" "Don't worry! It'll be easy!" Steven took a deep breath. "Steven, wait!" He held his breath and ducked underwater. A minute passed and he still hadn't come up. I was getting worried. Should I go after him? Was he waiting for me? I took a deep breath and was going to go after him when Steven suddenly rose out of the water. He was gasping for air. "Steven! Oh my god, are you okay?!" He nodded as he tried to catch his breath. "So, I was wrong! There's nothing down there except a black abyss!" "Well, now we know why it has that name! Just like Kohnshu said!" Steven was still breathing hard as I glanced around for somewhere to go. "I guess you were right, y/n! We must've missed a pathway!" As soon as the words left Steven's mouth, everything clicked in my head. I looked up at the waterfall. You couldn't see where it started. I turned my attention back to Steven. "Steven! Do you remember how we got into this cave?!" "I wasn't with you! That was Jake!" "I know but you were watching, right?!" "Yeah!" "We had to be lowered down! So that means the exit won't be on this level and it won't be lower either! It'll be up!" I pointed up at the waterfall. Steven seemed to understand what I was getting at. "But y/n, how do we ride up a waterfall?!" Okay maybe not. "We climb up the wall! Why do you think it's so rocky?!" Steven stared at the wall. "I don't know, y/n! It looks dangerous!" "Do you have a better idea?!" Steven didn't respond. He then took a deep breath and moved over to the wall. "Now would be a really great time if you showed up, Jake! Or you, Marc! Cause I really don't want to do this!" Steven then started climbing up the wall. I began to follow him but realized I had to carry the duffel bag with me. I put the strap on my shoulder and started climbing. It was a lot harder than it looked. The bag was heavy and the wall was slippery from being sprayed with water. Not to mention, Steven and I had to climb with no protection. If we fell that would be it. Even if we did hit the water, it would still hurt if we fell from a great height. We couldn't afford a slip-up. I think Steven knew that the way he was nervously scaling up the wall. It certainly was a struggle. Some time had passed and Steven and I both had slipped several times. We were still holding on though. Steven would stop and be too scared to go on every now and then, so I would give him words of encouragement and he would continue. After it had seemed like hours had passed, we reached the top. Steven hopped to his left and landed on the ground that the waterfall was traveling on. I followed suit. "Y/n, look!" He pointed at the massive gap in the cave that was outside. "We made it! We did it! Your plan worked! You're a bloody genius!" I blushed as Steven pulled me into a hug. He then let go and cheered. He climbed out of the cave and stood outside, taking it all in. He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the cave. I let the duffel bag fall to the ground as I exhaled. "That took way too long. It's not even daytime anymore. It might not even be the same day anymore." "Yeah but we did it! We conquered the cave! I knew we could! What did I say? Take that Jake! And Marc! It turns out Steven Grant is just as manly as you! How does that make you feel?" I snickered. Steven was really happy about this. I mean, so was I. I didn't think we would ever make it out. I thought that we were just gonna end up like everyone else who had gone in there. And yet, here we were. Maybe we were more mighty than we originally thought. "Well, you can scratch this off your bucket list." "Right. Remind me never to do a cave dive again."
