{008} The Upside Down

Ziggy had fallen asleep against Lucas' shoulder and El against Ziggy's other shoulder, so are in middle of Lucas and El.
The nap doesn't last long as the sound of Mike slamming the doors wakes her up. Soon El and Lucas is awake too.

The blonde watches the brunette rub her sleepy eyes as Lucas moans.

"They're gone" Mike declares, a hint of annoyance in his voice.

"What?" Lucas draws back in mixture of shock and confusion.

"Nancy and Jonathan. His car's gone" Mike explains.

"They're probably just sucking face somewhere" Dustin shrugs, making Ziggy giggle lightly.

"Gross" Lucas scoffs, clearly not as amused as Ziggy.

"No. No way!" Mike shakes his head, also unimpressed with Dustin's comment.

"They must have went with Hopper. I know Joyce did" Ziggy says.

"No" El states simply, glancing at Ziggy.

"What? Did you see them? Do you know where they went?" Mike dropped a string of questions on El.

"Yes" El responds.

"Where? Where did they go, El?" Ziggy asks.

"Demogorgon" El answers shortly.

"Um, what?" Mike exclaims, raising his voice. "They went to kill the Demogorgon? Are they stupid?"

"I'm tired, Zig" El moans as she leans her head against Ziggy's shoulder once again.

"It's okay, you can sleep. And then after all this, you can eat as many eggos as you want at my house. My sister will love you!" Ziggy smiles at the girl, but Eleven has already fallen asleep.

"Guys, guys" Mike hushes the overpowering voices of the other two boys. "This is crazy! We can't just wait around"

"Mike, in case you forgot, we're still fugitives" Lucas points out. "The bad men are still looking for us"

Dustin hums in agreement. "Yeah, and we don't even know where your sister is"

"Whatever happens, we are not letting these ugly sons of bitches take Eleven! Right, guys?" Ziggy exclaims.

Little did she know, Eleven is awake and hears every word she is saying. It's hard for El to resist to smile at how the blonde cares about her. It makes her feel hope. Maybe after all this, they can get some privacy and talk about their friendship and other stuff too. And Ziggy can teach her how to read and other school stuff.

"El and Ziggy can find them" Mike responds surely.

"Mike, look at them" Dustin throws his hand to point at the feeble girls.

"I'd rather not" Ziggy mumbles tiredly with exhaustion.

"Whatever" Dustin huffs. "The point is, I still think we should stick to the chief's plan"

"Exactly" Lucas nods in agreement. "We stay here, keep El and Ziggy out of sight, and keep them safe. That's the most important thing, remember?" his face softens as he continues to read the concerned expression on Mike's face. "Besides, she's okay. She's with Jonathan"
