I squirmed in discomfort, trying to peel his hand off of my collar. This captain was awfully strong. His hand wouldn't move as I tugged at it helplessly.

" Captain Levi! " Someone called out from behind him, his head turning. '' Is the-. . .Am I. . .interrupting something? " A man with short, light brown hair walked to the foot of the cot.

" I- What?- No-. . .What do you need, Moblit? " Levi stuttered, thrusting me back into my chair. I rubbed my neck, gagging. The feel of his knuckles digging into my throat was still there, and it didn't feel good.

" I was coming to check on Section Commander. How is she doing? " The man turned to me. I burst into a coughing fit, the sensation making me nauseous.

" She's alright. Just a few broken bones- " I continued to cough.

" Oh please. I didn't hurt you that bad. " Levi scoffed. I held up a finger, signaling to give me a moment as I got up, walking off to grab a glass of water. After painfully drinking, I made my way back to my seat, a hand still on my throat.

" Is it true she'll be stuck here for over 4 months? " The man, Moblit, said after a long silence.

" Yes. Her bones need time to heal fully. " My voice was hoarse.

" This is awful. " He sighed to himself, sitting on the cot by her feet. Levi glared at me from his seat, those eyes of his glossed in irritation.

" Why are you still here?! " I asked him, his jaw clenched.

" Because I can be. " The door to the office opened, the commander walking in. Moblit leaped into a salute as he walked passed.

" Levi, I need you for an immediate report. " The captain got up, walking out the door. Moblit followed, taking his leave. " Are you alright? " The commander's eyes were on my neck.

" That captain has no respect. He almost choked me just now. If that boy hadn't come in, I would have probably been dead by now. " I said, the commander shaking his head.

" I'll talk to him. Take care. " He replied, walking out. I let out a big sigh. This would be a quarrel to remember. Emmeline appeared next to me, handing me another glass of water.

" Did the captain just kiss you?! '' She said eagerly. I almost spit out my water in disbelief.

" What?! " I yelped.

" He was really close to you a while ago! " She whispered in my ear. I felt my face burn.

" He almost killed me! That man grabbed me by the collar and almost choked me to death! " I pointed to my neck.

'' Oh- " Emmeline's eyes widened. " Sorry. " She giggled, taking the empty glass from me. I began to prepare some pain relievers in case Hange woke up, so she would have them by her side for quick access. " What happened to her? " Emmeline whispered, observing all of the dressings on her wounds.

" I'm not sure myself. They said she was either attacked or bitten. Left limbs are broken. " I sighed.

" She'll be in here for a while then. " Emmeline said, gathering dirty laundry from surrounding cots.

'' Yep. " I scoffed, remembering that I had to report to that captain about Hange's injuries. Goodness, what a task this will be.

I cleaned up my section of the office, lighting some candles to serve as soft light for the night. Some of the soldiers who remained were already fast asleep. Some of the wounded soldiers had passed away due to unfortunate circumstances, nurses crying outside of the room, feeling as if they had failed their patient. I hadn't managed to lose any of my patients yet, but I knew that the ladies who had, suffered severe emotional damage. The association had a policy that if a nurse ever lost a patient of hers, she were to take at least 3 days off. That's when you know it's bad, since the association didn't typically grant many days off. Emmeline grabbed the basket of dirty laundry after I finished loading it.
