°Megan's POV°I walked all the way until I got to the house I stayed at with Joshua and his family. I slowly open the door and walk in. "Hello? Is anyone in here?" I yell. If not someone, then somethings going to come out. When nothing came out, I walked to the downstairs kitchen. Nothing. I sighed and went to the upstairs kitchen. All that was there was crackers. I smiled happily and I looked in the rest of the cabinets. I found honey and some jelly beans. My smile widened when I saw bottles of water and some of that flavored stuff that you put in and it tastes like fruit. I packed everything in a bag that I found a few days back. And by a few, I mean about 4 or 5 days. I've been gone longer though. Maybe a week in a half. I lost track of time. Not sleeping at night. Fighting off walkers. Being alone. Being without Carl. Without my family. I got snapped out of my thoughts by a growing sound. Slowly, I sneak to stairs to see what it is. There's a man that has a female walker an a chain. "Who are you?" I say from the top, gun pointed. He snaps his head around and looks at me. "Why do you have a walker?" I asked, not worried about my first question. "She's someone I knew." he stated, looking over at her. I put my gun down. If he was going to hurt me, he probably would have already done so. "But she's dead. I know it's hard, but you have to let go." I said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "I know she's dead." he said pushing her slightly into the kitchen. We walked into the living room and sat on the couch. "Then why do you have her?" I asked after a long silence. He sighed and looked at me before speaking. "At the beginning. Our camp caught on fire and burnt down. We were the only ones that survived." he took in a sharp breath before continuing, "We got out as fast as we could. About 10 miles up the road, we found a van with a roamer beside it. She found the keys and we took off to Atlanta." he stopped and looked up at me. That was a bad idea. "I lost my mom in Atlanta. I had to kill her." I say looking away from his gaze. "I'm sorry." he said sympathetically. Remembering my mother made me want to shut down.
~°Flashback°~"Mom!" I screamed as another one of those Monsters bit her. She let out an agonizing scream and shot it. I ran to her as she collapsed onto the floor. "No no no no. No momma. Please. Don't die. Please don't die momma!" I begged. "Shhh. H-Honey. It's okay. Y-you.... Have to.... Do it." she said gasping for air. "No momma. I don't want to Please don't make me do it." I begged again. Tears poured from our eyes. "Please. Baby girl. I don't want to end up like one of them." she choked out. I nodded my head and leaned over to hug her one last time. When I pulled away, she smiled and closed her eyes. "Goodnight baby." she said right before I pulled the trigger. ~°End Of Flashback°~
A tear rolled silently down my cheek and I brushed it off. "It's fine. Continue." I smiled weakly. He continued on telling me about how the found a hospital and he almost got eaten by a bunch of walkers and when he escaped, he say the nurse put some thing into the woman and she died a peaceful death. At the end I grabbed his hand and gave a light squeeze. "I'm sorry." I whispered. "I better get going. I have a lot of ground to cover before it gets too dark." I say standing. "Good luck, you'll need it." he said. I smiled at him before walking out of the house. There was no doubt about it that I was headed to a hospital. From what he had told me, there are still people out there. And even though the nurse killed that girl, it was her choice. I stopped to look at a sign on the side of the road. It said: Grady Memorial Hospital 25 miles. I smiled and started walking faster. That stranger helped me think about where I was gonna go because I had no idea. But now I have somewhere to go. This could be it. That hospital could be my new home.
