Airio was pacing his house restlessly. He couldn't believe what had happen. First he had sensed Melody stress. How? He didn't have a clue. Secondly he had killed a human with his touch. He didn't know that was possible. And than the biggest problem of all, he had manage to kill the man in front of one collector. Luckily for him, it was Zarak and not another one.

Some minutes later, Zarak appeared at his house. He opened the door to him.
His friend got in shooting him a serious glare.

"What the hell was that, Airio? How were you there and why did you interfered?" He yelled at him.

For some reason Airio didn't want to expose his feelings for Melody so he remained quiet.

"I just can think of one thing that could possibly led you there and it's not good." His friend continued.

Airio looked at the man's eyes that were analyzing his reactions. He found his voice somewhat. He knew Zarak had some suspicions so he had to diminish it.

"I went there because I felt something and I couldn't control myself when I saw what was happening. I'm against men that rape women for their individual pleasure." He tried to say that like Mel was not to blame. And she wasn't. The connection he was creating with her was the reason for all this mess.

"Oh so now you are the good samaritan angel that goes to Earth to save women in distress..." Zarak said sarcastically.

No...

"Yes. It appears that way. I feel that we need to fight this kind of acts." He tried to convince his friend of that.

"Cut the crap Airio. I know you. You are the coldest one of the collectors. You couldn't care less for those matters unless... You have interest in that woman."

Airio couldn't deny a word his friend had say. He realized then, that the only person he could trust with his secret and now had to tell was Zarak.

Sighing he tried to explain the situation.
"You are right. Her name is Melody and I met her when I went to collect her parents souls. Something in her is different. I don't know what precisely and I feel I have to discover what pulls me to her." He blurted out to his friend.

Somewhat his friend's eyes softened.

"She is human, Airio. That's what is so different in her to you."

"It's not just that! Hell I saw thousands of humans in my existence but none of them were like her." He yelled not controlling his emotions.

If Zarak was taken aback by his outburst, he didn't show.

"My friend you are walking on dangerous ground. You saw what happen tonight. I had to cover for you and invent some bullshit of death to that man."

"You can tell the true. I don't want you to be part of my mistakes."

"If the council knew about this you would loose your position as a collector and turn ash. Is that what you want? Airio, you are my friend! I'll have your back, man... Tell me more about the girl."

"Thanks Zarak. Melody is special. Her laugh is really contagious and she live her life with such intensity. It fascinates me."

"So, she is the reason you started acting different. I like her for that but you know that this has to stop. I can see you have created a bond with her but it's not good for her. You could put her in danger."

"You think I don't know that? And how it's possible to create a bond with someone that isn't the same specie as you?" Airio asked frustrated.

"I heard some stories of collectors and humans. I don't know the details how the process works but I know the results were not good for both parts."

The silence stretched between the two.

Sighing out laud, Airio felt the weigh of all problems surrounding him.

"You are right. I will just check on her one last time to see if she is ok and then I will disappear from her life."

Zarak just nodded knowing from the look of his friend that Airio was sad to do so.

They left the house together, taking different paths. One to his home and the other to the woman that lived on his thoughts.
