Zarak was at Airio's house.

Since he left Melody, his friend had return to his usual self, cold and distant. Sometimes Zarak wanted to ask if he was ok but the cold stare his friend gave him prevented any question to come out of his mouth.

They were looking through the human files when Airio broke the silence.

"You know... She liked to read in the park and watch movies in the sofa while eating strange food." He said so quietly that Zarak almost missed it. He looked at Airio.

"I miss her. I miss her smile, her laugh. I miss watching her sleep peacefully by my side. She gave me peace, she showed me emotions that I never thought I could possibly feel. But most important of all, she made me live through her."

"I'm really sorry, Airio. You know that if it wouldn't suppose a risk to her, I wouldn't stop you from seen her." Zarak really believed what he was saying. He preferred the Melody's Airio to the one in front of him now.

"She is with a man. I can feel the link subside but I still know when she is thinking of me or feeling something new. She doesn't love him but of course with time... I wish I could know what this guy has that I don't for her to move on so quickly." Airio's voice was full of sadness.

Zarak put his hand on his shoulder.

"First, you and her might seem a dream to Melody now that you disappeared for good. Second, I know you want her to be happy. Third, the man she is with is human and alive, unlike us."

"I want her to be happy but still hurts and it's worse when I know her feelings for me. I sense them. She is trying to forget our connection and move on with her life and she should do it. I am death and even if she gave me life, I'm not that selfish to take hers to myself."

He paused before continuing.

"You know... I never questioned our mission to collect souls till she came along. She changed me and she showed me what I am taking from people."

Zarak listened silently. It was the first time Airio spoke about his feelings.

"Life and death balanced each other. We have to take lifes if the new ones are to be born." He said.

"I know. I just need some time to block her feelings from my mind. She deserves a good man, a living one."

With that, Airio and Zarak resumed their previous task without touching again that topic.

Melody was having a dinner at her house. She invited Matt, Martha and Andrew to come. In the last couple of weeks she had been seen Matt. They went to the cinema, to a museum, to a restaurant. Basically, she was trying hard to fall in love with him but she simply couldn't. They talked about their situation and Matt understood that she wasn't ready to start a relationship with him. Melody asked him if he could be a friend and he accepted it.

Matt saw Melody as a sweet person and was willing to be just a friend to her. Of course he would try his hardest to change her mind, but he knew that he would have to let her know him better, to win her heart.

When Martha arrived at her house, Melody was helping Matt to make the dinner. He was a disaster cooking. The bell rang, saving Melody from having a burned kitchen. She asked Matt to open the door and returned to see how the roast beef was.

A few moments later, Martha entered the kitchen with a mischievous grin on her face.

"So... You have to tell me who is that hot man that opened the door. Is he the guy you were talking some months ago?" She asked.

Melody face was one of panic. She hadn't told Matt about Airio and she didn't want him to hear them speaking of those things.

"Relax Mel, he is with Andrew and I bet they are already watching tv." She peered through the door to see what the men were doing.

"Yeah, like I said, they both are glued on some football match." Martha laughed.

"Matt is just a friend and he is not the guy I told you about. I feel I need some time alone. I'll have vacations in one week and I'm thinking to go to some quiet place with a beach near so I can put my thoughts in place." Melody said.

"I think that's a great idea, Mel! Really! When you come back, you can start something with that gorgeous man." Martha winked.

"Maybe..." Melody was not convinced about that. What she knew for sure was that she needed time for herself.

Dinner went great. They all suggested some places to Mel's vacations. Melody decided that she would rent a car and drive along the coast of England and when she found the right place, she would stop and enjoy her time alone.
