Alarms could be heard blaring all over and Sonic raced down the hallway, avoiding robots and lasers as he searched for an exit. "Man, why is this place so big? Geez, can't a guy find an exit anywhere?" Sonic muttered to himself as metal doors started closing one by one in an attempt to slow him down.
"Welp, like a great man once said: If you can't find an exit, make one."
Skidding to a halt, he turned to face the wall and crouched down, getting ready to spin dash a hole through. While he was doing this, the hallways metal doors slammed down on either side of him, blocking any way to go. Not that it mattered now.
With another great crash, the wall tore apart after a few consecutive hits, the noise echoing off the walls and doors. After widening the gap in the wall, Sonic took in a few breaths of fresh air, grinning to himself.
"Once you get out, go around northeast, I sense that's where your friends are."
"Oh, thanks Super." There was no response. Sonic chuckled, stepping outside and turning in the direction Super said to go. He took off, speeding through the landscape until the sound of yelling and explosions could be heard.
It was apparent the moment he saw them that they had been fighting for a while now. There were small craters where the robots lasers had hit, the grass looked slightly burnt and was now a dark, pale brown color. Before Sonic could observe anything else, the ground below him seemed to explode, scattering dirt and grass all over him. When the dust settled, there was rather large robot standing in the distance, a smoking laser gun protruding from its arm.
"Dude what the heck?" Sonic said, annoyed. "Don't you know it's rude to randomly attack people?" He jumped into a sprint and quickly crossed over the field in seconds, sweeping the robot away and smashing it into pieces. "What? H-hey! Over here! Hey, Sonic!" Tails flew over excitedly, his two tails spinning like crazy. He was holding what seem to be a blaster gun in his hand, probably made it himself most likely.
"You escaped on your own!" The fox said happily. "Yup, looks like it." Sonic replied "Where's everyone else bud?" "Oh they're over here! This way Sonic!" Tails flew off, with Sonic following close behind. Soon they came upon their friends, who were currently in battle, smashing and punching Eggman's robots to junk metal.
They seemed mostly finished with them, but of course Sonic still wanted to get in on the action, so he quickly ran down to the battle, much to the surprise of his friends. He could hear their surprise as he spin attacked the rest of the robots easily, and after taking care of the last one, did one more flip before landing because why not. He was immediately surrounded by his friends, who were partially scolding him for being caught by Eggman, but relieved nonetheless that he had escaped anyway. As he was taking to them, he didn't notice the familiar presence of a certain lifeform until they spoke.
"So, looks like you got out after all faker."
"Oh, hello to you too Shadow."
