Sonic opened his eyes. Everything looked dark and the sky was swirling menacingly. In the distance, he saw a figure on the horizon.
He instinctively ran over to see what was happening, but the feet he were running on weren't his own, and when he spoke, the voice that came out was not his voice either.
"Achlys, what are you doing?! Stop this foolishness at once!" He felt himself cry out.
He didn't know what was happening, but he recognized the name Achlys. So he decided to see things play out to see what was going on.
The figure on the horizon came more into focus, and Sonic realized from inside the body that was not his own, that it really was Achlys, but more... different than the present one.
His fur seemed to be the same, but there was more color in his fur, streaks of green and gold. He also seemed to be adorned with some simple jewelry, a crown, some arm and ankle pieces, and a single necklace that looked to be made of rope with a single decoration.
"Lucian... how nice to see you before this world comes to an end. You're too late to stop me. This planet is stained and I'm the only one who can cleanse it." His voice didn't sound any different at the very least, but somehow more softer towards whoever he was speaking to right now.
"Achlys, please, you don't have to do this, it's not like you. Snap out of it and come back-"
Achlys' voice became hard and sharp.
"There's no coming back Lucian. You know just as well as I do what the world is coming to, but you can't bring yourself to do anything about it. So I'm going to destroy the mortals before they destroy the land we helped create."
There was silence. Then heard himself speak again in his unfamiliar voice. "Then I have no other choice but to stop you."
The earth started shaking violently.
"So be it." The last thing Sonic saw was a bright flash of light blasting from his chest, then everything went black.
Sonic groggily opened his eyes and then promptly fell to the floor in a mess of blankets with a loud thud. There were some quick, light sounding steps outside the door, and Sonic had just enough time to pick himself up before Tails came through the door, smiling, but with an air of worry and concern. "Hey Sonic, you ok?"
With a quick shake of his head, Sonic replied. "What? Sure buddy, of course I'm ok," he got up from the floor, tossing his blankets back onto the bed and pulling on his shoes. "Why don't you head down stairs and check on Silver? I'll be there in a minute." Tails eyes widened "Oh shoot! I almost forgot about him!" He flew down the stairs while Sonic chuckled to himself.
Then as he was about to leave, he heard a tapping noise at the window, and as he approached, the tapping grew louder. He opened up his window just in time to dodge a rock the size of his fist as it sailed past his head. "What the hell?!"
He opened up his window all the way and stuck his head out and looked down.
It was Shadow.
He looked kind of awkward, as if he had just gotten out of bed, his fur and quills seemed ruffled and messy. Sonic called down as quietly as he could "Shadow what the hell?? You almost hit me! What do you need from me at like, 7:00 in the morning?" Shadow gestured away from the house and pointed to his mouth, implying he wanted to talk. Sonic sighed in defeat, knowing that Shadow wasn't going to leave until he agreed, and quickly pointed behind him and held up 3 fingers. Below, Shadow nodded and turned around, walking down the dirt path that led up to the house. Sonic sighed softly "Geez..." he muttered under his breath.

Sorry, I've been trying to balance out school stuff and write this at the same time, so it's been awhile since the last chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter though.
