"Awww man how are you so good at this?!"
Tail set down his controller in apparent defeat. "Sorry buddy, guess I'm just too good at this kind of stuff." Sonic laughed apologetically. "Well yeah, I mean, you do this stuff on a daily basis!" Sonic chuckled a bit as Tails got up to throw some bags and empty sodas into the trash can.
"Hey, by the way, didn't you say you were going to meet Shadow later?" Tails asked as Sonic stopped suddenly, frozen by the couch. "Oh geez I almost forgot! Uhh hang on let me just-" He ran around the living room, picking up trash and stuff as he went, and by the time he dumped everything in the trash, the room was a lot cleaner than it was before.
Sonic gave Tails a quick boop on the nose and ruffled his hair before speeding to the door.
"Hey if I'm not back before 10:00, can you put yourself to bed?" "Yeah." Tails replied, grinning. "Ok then, bye!" There was a brief gust of wind as Sonic ran off, leaving the door swinging in the breeze as he went.
After running for a while, Sonic soon came upon a moonlit cliff, decorated with plant life. The cliff overlooked the crystal blue ocean and had a great view of the moon and as well as the sun if you were up early or late enough to witness the rise and set. It was one of Shadow and Sonic's favorite places to visit when they weren't fighting, so it was silently agreed at one point that if they wanted to talk to one another in private or just talk in general, they would come here, to this place. On the cliff, leaning against a tree, Sonic could see a dark silhouette, tapping his foot against the ground and occasionally glancing around the area.
Shadow.
As Sonic ran up to him, he turned and scoffed upon seeing the other, turning back towards the ocean. There was a moment of silence before he turned back again slowly, allowing himself to let out an audible sigh. "So, what did you want to talk about?" Sonic shrugged and chuckled nervously "I didn't really have anything in mind, I just wanted to see you, hang out...you know?" Shadow was quiet before answering "You wanted to...see me? Is that it?" There was a small nod from Sonic, who had come up and joined him by the tree. "Sooo can we hang out? Like I said, I don't get to see you as much anymore. We don't have to do anything either, we could just-" He was cut short by a gloved hand slapping against his mouth. "Ok, ok fine. Just stop talking for a while ok? You're starting to annoy me."
Sonic looked at Shadow as he quickly brought his hand back, and he could have sworn he saw him smiling, but it was gone almost immediately. Probably just a trick of the moonlight.
