24. Tum saath ho, utna kaafi hai. (You're with me, and that's enough.)

I've noticed a pattern lately.

Priya texts me every day. And that's amazing. But she texts me every day at the same exact time. Not a minute more or less. And that's..... that's suspicious. It was 1:25 PM right now, five minutes more and my phone is going to beep with a notification of a text message. I waited patiently, sidetracking every other task to focus intently on the time on the wall clock. Just as the minute hand hit 6, in a matter of few seconds my phone vibrated. I slapped my hand on the desk, realising my guess was right. She has a fucking schedule to text me.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Picking my phone, I didn't have to unlock it to know what she must have texted me. For the last four days, it has been the same. Still, I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and checked the message.

Did you have lunch?

I scoffed out a laugh, shaking my head in disbelief. I can't believe someone like this can even coexist with other humans. How did she manage until now with little to no social skills? I mean, I'm socially awkward too but this is a whole new level. But it's cute. Should I feel lucky that she is going to such extreme levels of having a damn schedule to text me?

Yes. What about you?

I decided to play along for a while and then catch her off-guard by going deviant to our usual conversation.

Not yet.

You should have it.
It's 1:30 already.

Yeah, I will. :)

I laughed. She is so fucking cute. Well, time for some shock Miss. Ma'am. Let's see how good your disaster recovery techniques are.

Missing me?

Complete silence.

She did not text me for the whole five minutes. I tongued the inside of my cheek, grinning lopsidedly as I tossed the phone on the desk and focused back on the desktop screen.

My phone pinged with a new message, occupying my last bit of attention. I picked up the device and leaned back on the chair, biting my lower lip to hold back the smile from stretching to its limits.

🤗

I burst out laughing so hard I had to shrink in my chair to cover my mouth to not catch any attention. It was hard to sober up instantly. I haven't laughed so much since forever. Brushing off tears that spilled, I blew air through my cheeks, trying to calm down but still failing to stop the snickers and chuckles. I looked up at the ceiling, clenching my jaw and resisting a grin that I know will be transformed into another session of full-blown laughter if I didn't stop rethinking the message.

With a nod to myself, I cleared my throat and took a sip of water from the bottle before my hand went to pick up the phone.

Don't skip your meals.
See you at home.

Yeah :)

I chuckled.

Someone stop this woman from using emojis. Or just ban her from using them forever.
