Jade smiled happily at the squeals tumbling from Layla's lips. They were on the Melnik farm and everything was going amazing. Jenna's father, Misha, was enamored with his new granddaughter. Layla was so happy to have another grandfather and took to Misha very quickly. She was currently riding the pony he bought for her, which she named Cuddles and was having the time of her life.
Misha took one look at James and nodded in approval. It made Jade laugh, because she knew Jason would not get the same treatment. Mischa Melnik was a bullshit meter. He could sense it miles away and though Jade knew Jason was changing he still had residual bullshit in him.
"How's my angel doing?" Misha asked Jade as they walked the apple orchard. "I'm good Papa. I'm just adjusting I guess." Misha hummed a response. "Is he treating you well?" Jade nodded her head because he was. Jason was a sweetheart and very much in love with her. "He's great. I just...I don't know if I can get over his past."
She knew she should because it all happened before they even met, but the world didn't know that. In the world's eye she was the dumb dummy that married a cheating asshole.
"You chose to marry him knowing what you know about his lifestyle, angel. I can't understand why you'd stay and worse marry a cheater, but love makes people stupid I guess." Jade let out a sigh.
"You have to decide to move forward or end it here and now. You sitting in limbo isn't helping anyone, especially you." Jade nodded her head as she linked her arm in his.
Mischa Melnik was massive. Like most men in the Melnik family he was taller than most and the size of a tree. Jenna took her short stature from her mother's side and she was happy about it.
"How are you doing?" Jade asked him earning a happy smile. "When Jenna told me about Layla and James, I was worried. I didn't want her getting her hopes up, but now meeting them I feel full. They were tailor made for her, Jade." Jade nodded her head in agreement.
"Layla's mother abandoning her the way she did. No one can help Layla through that loss when she's old enough to deal with it like Jenna can. My daughter is going to be better than okay and I'm very happy with the growth my family has experienced."
Jade smiled at him before nodding. "You know I hooked them up, right?" Misha laughed heartily as they made their way back to everyone. "I know you did. I have to spoil you with more gifts from now on in thanks." Jade nodded with a laugh before Layla ran to Misha.
He scooped the child up and tickled her. "We have to work on your Russian, vnuchka (granddaughter)." Layla laughed at her grandfather and his accent. "Say something else, dedushka (grandfather)."
Misha cheered loudly. "You're a natural! Jenna, you speak to this angel in our native tongue from now on." Jenna rolled her eyes and waved him off as she continued talking to one of the workers.
Jade played with Misha and Layla happily as Jason and James watched. "You two have been off today." James observed earning a reluctant nod from his older brother.
