Jason sat in his living room with Luis. They were watching old games and drinking sweet tea together. Manny was on assignment in Portland with Ethan Crane and Jade was coming back from San Antonio in the morning.
Jason had been so bored without Jade. He didn't realize how much space she occupied rent free in his mind until she wasn't in his presence for him to pester.
"Missing the Mrs.?" Luis asked with a chuckle earning a nod. "I don't know how you do it. She's only been gone a couple of days and I'm losing my fucking mind. You two have gone months without seeing each other. I could never." Luis laughed at that. "I'm not a pussy whipped simp like you." Jason laughed at him. "You're not pussy whipped anything."
Luis laughed heartily. "Facts. I'm a true gay." Jason looked at him confusedly. "I've never seen, touched or been near a vagina. Ever. I was even a c-section baby so didn't even have to deal with one then. A true gay."
Jason shook his head as he laughed at his friend. "You're an actual idiot. I appreciate you hanging out with me though. I'm sure your foolishness isn't contagious." Luis nodded as they heard the doorbell ring.
Jason went to get the wings and pizza they ordered. "Let's eat in the kitchen." Jason called out as he made his way there. Luis met him and grabbed the cold water bottle Jason was holding out.
They both washed their hands before taking a seat at the large counter. "Thanks for dinner." Luis said taking a slice of pizza. "No problem." Jason replied taking his own slice.
Luis looked at him. "Are you thinking about retiring? I know you're at that age, but you're still so good, man. It's like you're in your prime all over again or something." Jason chuckled at him.
"I don't know. I have two sons on the way. The idea of traveling and leaving Jade alone with them doesn't sit right with me. My dad was always busy when I was a kid and though I had James and my mom I really missed him. I don't want that for my kids."
Luis nodded his head in understanding. "It doesn't help the status that we're in right now with this creep out there. I just feel it'd be stupid for me to leave my family when this psycho is out there." Luis nodded his head.
"You do have security though. The best of and they wouldn't be alone with your actual family living on both sides of the house." Jason shrugged not ready to make a decision either way.
Luis sighed before setting his pizza down. "Take us to the World Series one more time, bro. If you do it'll be your fifth one in your career. That's huge." Jason smiled knowing he was right.
"I'll think about it." Luis smiled before they continued eating and talking about life and their spouses. Jason felt bad that it took him this long to really connect with Luis. He was younger, but not by much and always seemed like a great guy.
He had Jade to thank for their strengthened friendship. He smiled as he thought of his wife. He had Jade to thank for a lot of things. She had singlehandedly changed him in every way and he was eternally grateful. Jason was beyond ready to have his wife in his arms.
She texted him early that day that she had plans for them next weekend and that he should pack for perfect weather both day and night. He didn't know what she had up her sleeve but he was down for a quick trip.
Jade giggled as Jason smothered her in kisses the following afternoon. "I was gone for only 3 days." Jason shook his head. "Three days too many." She laughed before moaning as he latched onto the spot on her neck that always got her going.
"Jason, we can't." He kissed her lips. "Why not? Don't blame it on Jax. I'll put you on your side and go to work." Jade bit her lip and he knew that's exactly what she wanted.
