The Shift

I couldn't sleep at Justin's because my dad thought I was "pushing it", but that gave me more time to pack anyway. Our flight was pretty early, and it was clear that Johnny was by far the most excited. Not because he woke me up at two , but because he woke me up at two fully dressed and ready to go. I rolled eyes at his enthusiasm as I showered and dressed for our 4 am flight.

"Do you all have everything?' My dad asked the three of us, earning nods. 'Alright, be safe. If you're in an emergency, please call us' Veronica said. 'Alright, the shuttle's here' My dad said, which made me look at the window.'Tell Connor I love him for me' I said to my dad before I gave him a hug. I hugged Veronica too, and the three of us loaded our stuff into the van and were then on our way to LAX.

"I'm so fucking pumped" Johnny said. He was forcing Beth into his snapchat story, which I didn't even have enough energy to pretend to be amused by. I was still apprehensive about Cat, I hadn't seen her in two days, and I got nervous from the thought that she might know about Justin and I. 'Chan, wake up, sleep is for the weak' Johnny said. 'Let me sleep' I moaned. Tightening my messy bun, I dozed off to a song in my head.

The van came to a screeching halt, waking me up almost immediately. 'Here' The man said, forcing us out of the car. We retrieved our bags and looked for our gate. I didn't know if anyone was here yet, and at this point I still wanted to sleep. We were the first one's here, so I immediately took a seat and practically passed out on my portable neck pillow. I gave it maybe two minutes before I heard deep voices sharing the same excited tone as Johnny. My eyes fluttered open to see Justin, Cory, Chaz, and Sam all here.

'Greek girls' Chaz groaned excitedly. I smirked as I caught eyes with Justin. He winked at me, making me smile. I then noticed two Starbucks cups, and pastry bags in his hands. As the guys talked with Beth, he made his way over to me. 'How do you look so good at 4 am?' I asked him as he handed me a cup. 'Well' He said. 'Thank you by the way' I said. 'Here' He said before he handed me the croissant. 'You're the best' I said before I took a sip of what I discovered to be a simple vanilla latte.

'I wanna kiss you' He said. 'I wanna kiss you too' I said. 'If you just dropped- 'Justin' I said. 'Do you really expect us to be like this for the next four days? In Greece of all places' He said as he gestured to our friendly distanced bodies. 'I promise you, just let me get a little more comfortable and we can be as publicly affectionate as you want' I said. 'I don't want pda, I just want you' He said. 'You're blushing' He said. 'Shut up' I said. 'Where's your seat?' I asked him. 'I'm next to Johnny and Cat, right in the middle' He said. 'Really?' I asked. He noticed my voice drop, and his face lightly softened. 'Don't worry about a thing, it'll be like she's invisible' He said. 'Don't do that Justin' I said.

'Why not, you're the only girl I'm looking at anyway. So technically, every other girl is invisible' He said. I shook my head as I sipped my latte. Justin took a bite of his sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich. 'Do you want some?' He asked. 'No' I said. 'Wait kinda' I said as he raised an eyebrow towards me. 'Here' He said. He held it for me to take a bite, and I heard a loud 'aw' come from Chaz. 'So cute' He added as I chewed my mouthful of food. 'I'm so sleepy' I said to him. 'If you want, I could switch with whoever you're sitting next to?' Justin asked. 'Yes, please' I said. 'But I don't know who is' I continued.

I handed him my ticket, and he went over to the other guys. 'Uh, Cory's on one side and Andy's on the other.' He told me. 'Switch with Cory please' I said with a smile and he smirked. Justin asked Cory to switch, which he was fine with because he assumed Justin wanted to flirt with me as usual. None of them had known I had turned Justin down, and they all probably assumed I had just forgiven him after the Cat thing and were being our flirty selves again. I really wanted to cuddle with him discreetly throughout this long flight. As I let the steam from my cup hit my face, I looked up to see Ashley, Andy, and Cat joining us. Simultaneously, our flight was called, so I took my stuff with me and prepared my ticket for the lady to scan.
