"Hope!" The couple their head around to the owner of the voice and they both have different reactions upon seeing that person's face. Hope had a polite smile on her face, while her girlfriend had a well-hidden scowl on hers.
"I would yell at you for leaving me like that but I can see that you had a good reason to." Hope chuckles as she shyly looks away.
"Don't be rude, Hope. Introduce us." The other brunette urges and Hope promptly listens. Josie's scowl only depends.
Hope takes her hand away from her girlfriend's to nudge her towards Maya. "Josie this is my friend Maya. Maya this is Josie my best friend..." Josie's eyes snap towards Hope. "...And girlfriend." The brunette sighs in relief.
In the corner of her eye, she could see a smirk on Hope's face. Josie frowns.
Now was not the time to be teasing. Especially mot about that and not in front of Maya.
Josie was still paranoid that Maya might still Hope from her. And she's not planning on giving the other girl an opportunity to.
Maya offers her hand for Josie to shake and the brunette hesitatingly does so.
"I am so glad I finally got to meet the one and only Josette Saltzman. Hope would not shut up about you, even before you two started dating." Maya's words and smile catch Josie off guard.
Maya seems so... vicariously happy.
Which is not what Josie had expected at all.
Josie knew that Hope and Maya went back to being friends and Hope had told her that Maya supported them she just never really believed it... Until now.
Guess all that panicking over an outfit was for nothing.
"One time Hope—" "Okay. No embarrassing stories. Just shoo. Leave." Hope says pushing Josie away from her friend. Both brunettes laugh.
As their laughter dies down, their friends have joined them in the middle of the room.
Hope gets everyone aquatinted, and they fall into each conversation about the common interests they share.
Landon, MG, and Lizzie talked about comics and superhero movies. Maya, Raf, and Jed talked about band and football. While Cleo, Hope, and Josie tried to include themselves in their conversations.
They all made fast friends.
Over half an hour, the group of friends migrated to the couch as they continued their conversation about topics that would constantly change whenever someone brings something else up.
As all the adults were chatting about business, drinking, and dancing, the teenagers were laughing and having a good time amongst themselves.
They weren't drinking a lot given that there are dozen of adults in the room —though they did manage to swipe a few drinks every now and then, Maya more than the others— but somehow they all felt like they were drunk. Maybe they were and they never noticed it. Or maybe it's simply joyous bliss. Either way, they all had a good time.
"Hey what's up with the yin and yang with you couples anyway. Did you plan that?" Maya changes topics once more.
Hope eyes dart over to where Maya was pointing and see the matching couple in white, then the other couple in black. Huh. They kinda were like yin and yang.
"You guys are the yang couple." She points to MG and Lizzie. "While you guys are the yin couple." She points to Hope and Josie. Then she also points to Cleo and Jed. "You guys too."
"Well if we knew you guys were gonna be matching we could've prepared too." Landon comments. Raf nods in agreement
"Guys, almost everyone in this party is wearing either black or white. Even Maya. Not my fault you chose to dress differently."
