On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.
He got eight of them
Rain pattered against the window, moon light shining through. A young girl sat in front of the portrait of Number Five. Silent tears streaming down her wet face. It has been a week since Five's disappearance, clearly affecting her like nothing before.
Hugging her legs, she rested her forehead on her knees, occasionally wiping away tears that slipped out. The blue figure watched her with sad eyes, feeling sorry for the poor girl.
"Why don't we make a peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich?" suggested the blue figure, attempting to cheer the girl up. She looked up at him, her expression not changing.
"I'm not hungry, Echo." The girl replied dryly, wiping away more tears. Echo felt his heart drop. He drifted closer to the crying girl and lifted her face. His eyes met her swollen teary ones.
"I can make the pain go away..." started Echo. "... but you have to trust me."
"Anything would be better then this." She replied. Echo cupped her face— still wet with tears— placing his forehead against hers. A blue light shining from the contact. The blinding light lit the dark room. Then slowly disappeared.
Suddenly she went limp, her eyes shut closed. Her body fell sideways as she laid on the floor. Echo had put her into a deep, deep slumber.
The day that he left was the day that I died.
