Chapter 5 - Dragons

As the guardian dragon of the sword of fire towers over us, Kai, Nya and I back further towards the edge getting dangerously close to the lava. I turn my head around to face the lava and almost get burnt as the lava spits out a bit of itself, practically next to my hand. Turning my head back around, I watch as the dragon goes in to take a bite at us but we all jump out of the way.

"Hey Y/n, aren't you the one who likes dragons?" Kai asks as we once again, jump out of the way of the dragons mouth. "Yeah why?" I reply as we then jump over to the edge of the volcano, backing up against the wall.

"Do you know anything about them that will help us try and not get killed by it?"

I think for a minute for any information about dragons but nothing. But then remember something. I remember I used to always sneak into the cinema and watch the movies. One of the very first times I did, I watched a movie about dragons. I think it's called Training Dragons? Or Taming Dragons? I don't remember but what I do remember is the scene where the boy tames the dragon.

Walking in front of the siblings, I get in arms reach of the dragon. Then holding out my hand to it, I turn my head away showing the dragon I trust it. After a small while I feel a scaly head touch my hand so I turn my head back around and find that the dragon also trusts me. I take my hand away from the dragon and turn back around to find Kai and Nya's mouths basically touching the ground. Not literally though.

I then walk over to both of them and take Kai's hand and lead it towards the dragon. Once again, the dragon leans into to touch its head up against the red ninja's head showing that he also trusts him.

"Nice job pip squeak." Kai breathes taking his hand away from the dragon. "Alright, now let's get out of here!"

*Quick time skip*

"Kai, Y/n, Sensei!" Cole yells out to us from outside the volcano.

"The sword of fire was here, as well our friends. But I only sense loss. We are too late. The elemental weapons have left this realm, and are now in the underworld. The end is drawing near." Zane states as he takes off his mask.

"Great, the one place where no mortal can cross over." Cole says obviously annoyed. "We might not be able to cross over." Kai says mysteriously before the temple in the volcano begins opening itself in half. "But a dragon can." I finish off for Kai while patting the dragon.

The dragon roars as the other Ninja stare at it in all of its glory until Cole jumps behind a wall in fear. "Our father used to tell us stories about the dragons. That they were mystical creatures that belonged to both worlds and varied between them." Nya explains to the other ninja that consist of white, blue and black.

"Hygpfyeh, are you insane?!" Cole cries out mumbling up all of his words. Kai then jumps off of the dragon, leaving me in charge of controlling him for the time being. "Once he realised that we were trying to protect the sword of fire, and y/n showed her trust towards him, he actually became quite a softy." "Wait, Y/n tamed it?!" Jay tries to yells out in shock as Kai pats the dragons' head. I nod my head which makes Jay even more shocked and he starts doing a little confused dance.

"Wait why can't you talk?" Kai asks just as confused as I am. "Cole hit Jay's throat with his scythe while they were fighting the skeletons." Zane replies for Jay which he seems thankful for. "He also wants to know if you like blue." The question is directed towards Nya because Jay already knows that I like blue and Kai is more of a red guy.

"It's my favourite colour." Nya replies which ends in Jay tries to say yes to but fails. It is getting better though.

Nya then hops down from the dragon leaving only me on him. "Nya." Kai says to his sister strictly. "This is goodbye, isn't it?" Nya assumes which she is correct as Kai nods his head in agreement. "Just come back to me in one piece, ok? I don't want to have to run the store on my own." The girl half heartedly laughs.
