I was just arriving to Whitehorse, when my phone went off. The noise caused Cayden- who had slept most of the way- to grumble awake and me to jump a little.
I hadn't been expecting a phone call...especially not now.
"Hello?" I asked, not even bothering to check who it was.
A cough.
"Sery?"
Cane.
"Yes?" I said softly so as not to annoy sleepy Cayden.
"I have more information," Cane muttered.
"You do? What is it?" I said eager to know something more.
He hesitated, but finally said in a rush, "Cooper will send as many people as he possibly can within a month's time. He demands to have your blood and if he doesn't receive it...," Cane trailed off.
"I know. Thank you Cane, for everything," I murmured. "Let me know if there's anything else."
"Always."
----
"What...will happen now?" Cayden murmured after an hour of pure silence.
"Cooper plans to send as many people as possible within a month if we A) don't stop him or B) don't give him my blood," I explained, weary.
Cayden was silent...I could smell the fear on him.
"Things will turn out," I murmured and reached for his hand to softly caress it.
I felt him relax and settle into the seat. Sadly, he'd have to get out of the seat in a couple of minutes as I turned into the parking lot of the hotel I had rented Alleeah.
The second I parked, I was out and grabbing our bags. I stood over on the passenger side waiting for Cayden and when he seen my urgency he chuckled a little...it sounded nervous to my ears.
I rushed in, passed the front desk, into an elevator and to Alleeah's floor. I had Cayden knock upon the door. I listened, but didn't hear...anything. No heartbeat, no shuffling of feet, no nothing.
I began to panic, but soon the door opened.
Odd though that I didn't hear the-
My thoughts stopped as I gazed into the empty apartment...
"Alleeah?" I called softly.
The only answer I received was the wind whooshing through the open balcony door.
"Oh god," I heard myself whisper as I dropped the bags inside the doorway and flashed to the window.
I looked out and saw nothing, smelled no sign of Alleeah being out there. A click sounded just inside the balcony door and then came Alleeah, held captive by a strange man as he fixed a gun at her head.
"Sery! Watch out!" Cayden yelled, but that only startled the man and he whirled around -Alleeah in tow- and fired a bullet from its chamber. Cayden cries filled the air, but I noticed the hotel door had swung shut.
"Stop!" I yelled, pleading with the man and he turned his attention back to me with a smirk etched into his face. "What do you want?"
"You're money, jewels anything and well her," he gestured to Alleeah in his arms which brought my full attention to her. She had bruises lining her face and one just forming under her eye, at the sight of them and her tear stained face, my rage grew double the size. Nobody touched what was MINE.
"Why?!" I spit out, barely containing my anger. I knew he was human, no vamp simply wanted money and a hot figure.
"I've been watching her here and found that I've come to really enjoy this figure of hers.. And well, while I've been here having a "good" time with her she happened to spill out that you'd be back and that she didn't pay for this expensive suit. So I demand money and I'll leave quietly with her. You won't miss her," he paused, looked at bleeding Cayden and then turned back to me. "You have him."
