I would've jumped had my phone's volume been on high, but it was on vibrate and I merely flinched as the vibration hit my thigh and continued to do so.

Cane?

I reached in my pocket, pulling the phone out, and glanced at the screen.

My old number.

Alleeah.

I slid the green 'answer' button and held it up as I continued to drive.

"Hello?"

"S-sery?"

Her voice shook.

"How you'd get this number?"

"You sent it out to me in a text message remember?"

I thought back, hard.

Yes, yes I did, but with all the shopping, Cayden, and mysterious guest invading my fully secured house I had been too preoccupied with that to remember sending the text.

"Yes, I do remember. Sorry, I've been a bit preoccupied. Now what's wrong, Alleeah?" I asked, remembering the way her voice shook.

"I.. I've been having some trouble," she whispered, her voice only audible to my vampyric hearing.

"Trouble? As in supernatural?" I inquired, an uneasy feeling in my stomach.

"Yes. That exact kind,"

I paused, letting that sink in... She could've been dead because of me.

"Tell me. Everything."

"Well... Everything had been fine after you left... But then after two days, I received a knock on my door. I didn't think much of it and answered. I regret answering it. A pretty blonde greeted me, but only by shoving me back against the wall and strangling me," her voice shook and she sob a bit. "I- I.. I'm sorry."

"Tell me!"

"She strangled me and cut me. She demanded I tell her where you were, but I refused. She said she'd be back tonight... I'm... I'm scared."

I sighed, all my fault...

"Alright, here's the deal- I'm flying you in and you'll come stay at a hotel here, alright? I'll be sure to check in on you routinely. You can't stay with me because I've had...a very unexpected visitor this morning," I spoke through clenched teeth as I recalled my "visitor".

"O-okay," Alleeah responded.

"Pack and be ready by-," I check the time: seven-thirty five pm meaning it was about one am there. "Three am," I finished. "If you don't feel safe, head to the airport as soon as you pack."

"Alright. T-thank you, Sery."

"Anytime, family."

After Alleeah hung up I made the necessary calls for flights and booked a hotel room closet to my house and then I just waited as I drove to the airport.

A few hours and a lot of snacks for me later and Alleeah finally arrived at the airport. I took her into my arms immediately and felt her release a sob. She had been scared.. Badly.

I clenched my teeth with the thought and turned to her.

"Will you be alright? Or do you want to stay with me tonight and head to the hotel tomorrow?"

"No, I'll be fine. You said you had weird things happening at your house?"

"Yeah, I did... Still might," I admitted, uneasy as I remember my visitor.
