Blood spurted from Alleeah's mouth, I had thought she would have been okay. She had almost been a vampyre before, hadn't she..? The tests they ran must have affected her and now she couldn't turn, but she had been able to heal from SMALL amounts of my blood.
God, I was so wrong.. I should've been prepared for this and I wasn't because her face had healed from my blood.. I just figured she had once been a vampyre so she could turn again.. wrong! This was so much more worse than I could've imagined to have happened.
She coughed and coughed as blood sprayed. Cayden was hovering over her in so much worry that it brought tears to my eyes. I didn't know what to do to save her... I only knew that once a person's blood rejects the vampyre change they die..
There had to be a way though! She couldn't die..
I frantically ran through solutions in my mind until I realized who hovered over her.. Cayden.. Cayden who was very human and packed with enough human blood probably to drive out my vampyric blood from Alleeah.
Maybe...just maybe that could save her.
"Cayden!" I called and he looked up, his face horrified.
"Cayden we don't have time, I need you to give me your wrist," I said as I flashed over.
He obeyed silently, but before I bothered with opening his wrist I quickly grabbed a bag to put his blood into. I slashed open his wrist then and he cried out, but allowed himself to bleed into the bag.
I got up immediately and searched the kitchen for anything like a cannula. I rapidly found straws and linked them together, taking tape and forming a tight seal around where the straws joined.
I raced back to Cayden who was limply holding his wrist into the bag. I swiped up the bag and gingerly closed his wrist. I closed the baggie and punctured the straws into one side of it, then taking more tape and securing it around the bag and straw.
Once that was completed I quickly formed the straw end into something that resembled a needle and shoved it into one of Alleeah's veins. She was already in so much pain she didn't feel a thing.
I watched as the blood in the bag began to flow into her body as I squeezed it. Immediately her face relaxed and her struggles became less futile. She actually sighed as the remainder of Cayden's blood slid into her body.
I gently removed the makeshift needle and bandage up her wound, afraid to use my blood after she just rejected it. I glanced at Cayden and he smiled at me.
"Why didn't you just put my arm next to hers?"
"Because I didn't want you to change.. Not yet anyways.."
"I thought I couldn't change because you need my blood," he said, confused.
"Yeah well, to hell with that. I WILL make do. One way or another. Alleeah rejecting my blood proved that you have to be the one to change. I can't have both of you human and have to babysit you both," I explained as I gently lifted Alleeah into my arms and placed her on the bed, covering her.
I turned and quickly tugged on clothing which I now noticed I was lacking. Cayden simply made a noise of agreement to my explanation.
I knew what would happen when I changed Cayden, I'd still rely on his blood.. And I have to hope I could make do with it's diluted-ness from being a vamp.. I would make the change. I couldn't afford to go mad.
